Nice yoga pose statue
Looks beautiful on my Ladder vanity. My Vanity is in the master bedroom. I thought this would be perfect for my vanity shelf. The figurine is very sturdy and was packaged well. Nice, but not without its flaws.
I am of 2 minds when it comes to the figurine. I love the movement of this sculpture and the simple elegance. It looks like a stone figurine, yet it is deceivingly light weight. I am an artist and I am always looking for interesting things to draw and paint because I love to depict things from life. So when I saw this, I thought this would be perfect for my stash of still life objects and something I would be able to display at the same time. At a few feet away, it looks fabulous. But when you get up close to it, well, things begin to change. There are a lot of imperfections in this piece. The most glaring is the ridge on the side of her head near her hairline. A toe on her foot looks like it got caught a blender. The inside of one of her arms is marred as well. There are also a few chips in the paint.But I had to ask myself if a sculpture that is only $20, should I expect perfection? I'd like to say yes. But in reality, I guess that this is what I can expect for $20. From a distance, you can't see any of the imperfections. It's only when you give it a close scrutiny that these become apparent. Does that detract from what I got it for? Not at all. I can use it just the way it is, for both display and still life purposes. I almost gave it 3 stars, but then I decided that 4 is appropriate. If a body part were missing or visibly damaged or improperly rendered , that would be different. The form is beautiful and in proportions that add to its beauty. It is small enough to place on a table, desk, or bookshelf, but substantial and large enough to stand out when displayed.Mine might be a one off, I don't know. But I've spent more on things to paint that were in worse shape. This is as stated in the description. It's lightweight and has a clean aesthetic look to it. I was initially going to give it 3 stars because of the mars it contains, but then I remember how little it goes for. So I think it is worth the price because most of the time, most people don't scrutinize things closely. Unless of course, you are going to purchase this as a gift. Then you will have to weight what's more important. Perfection or the perfect gift to the yoga enthusiast in your life.
