Since my cancer treatments and surgery, I have become a night owl. I sleep some of the night and also some of the day.With the Arizona sunshine, sleeping during the day is hard and these work great for blocking out the sunlight. Well mad and easy to hang up. My window frame was made with a steel framed edging, so using some strong magnets, these curtains are right against the wall, no light leaking at all.
Pros: this blackout curtain does exactly as it is designed and blocks out the light from the windows. The metal rings that are provided make it easy to add to a curtain rod that is already hung with a curtain on it without having to take the curtain off. It also works on a double rod. The material is lightweight and doesn't add bulk or weight to the curtain/rod.Cons: the blackout material my mom likened to a "black trash bag" when she stayed in the room. The material is more plasticky so I wouldn't say it is great as your only curtain if you are wanting to be stylish. While the curtain rings are able to open individually, they are similar to binder rings so it is cumbersome the first time.
I got these to cut down into smaller curtains.I did think they were fabric. But, they are actually more like a rain poncho or umbrella - I missed that they were just the liners that goes on the rod interspersed with the real curtains - now I feel better about cutting them down into smaller pieces.But, whatever black film they used, it definitely does black out the light. I actually laid down on the bed with these over my face and all the lights on. It was completely black under this thing.The curtain rod rings on this set are binder ringers, so you need two hands to open them, which you'd have to do if the curtains are already hanging and you want to add these without removing the whole set of curtains, but they'd slide right on, if you were adding them at the same time as the main curtains.The tabs/loops that hold the rings are very strong and well made for added rip protection.I recommend.
I placed this on my bedroom windows and they work really well! Here is a video showing my placing the curtain over my bright lamp so you can see that no light goes thru. I was pretty mind blown haha.The only only thing that I don't like about these curtains is the texture, they feel like a windbreaker jacket, or a rain coat type material. These are for long windows, but I used them on my basic bedroom windows
These blackout curtains are exactly what I have been looking for to keep the streetlights out of my bedroom at night and having them greatly improved my sleeping habits. I leave them closed most of the time (even throughout the day). Afternoon light no longer amplifies the glare on my glossy OLED TV screen. I’ve also noticed that the room stays cooler throughout the day since there is no sun coming in. The claim that these have thermal insulating properties is apparently true. The hooks slide smoothly, and the design feels clean and overall modern. Now, if I had to nitpick, I would say that the fabric itself looks a bit too shiny for my liking. I would have preferred a more matte finish but that's just my personal preference so I can't fault the manufacturer for that. All in all, these curtain panels exceeded my expectations. They look pretty good, perform even better, and have totally elevated the 'vibe' of my bedroom.
