Beautiful!

This incense holder is actually really nice! It has this cool double-layer design where the top burns your incense and the bottom is a little drawer that stores all your sticks. Everything stays neat and in one place, which I love. The lid and drawer are magnetic, so they open and close really smoothly, and it comes with fireproof cotton inside, so cleanup is literally just lifting it out and shaking off the ash. It’s made from real rosewood, so the grain looks gorgeous. Kind of classy and earthy at the same time.If you want something that looks pretty, keeps your space tidy, and makes your incense routine feel a little more special, this one’s perfect. Also would make such a nice gift.

Gorgeous and well-made

I was expecting this to be made of the thing bamboo wood that cracks and breaks but this is a beautiful burner. This is actual wood and it's very sturdy and well built. The storage drawer comes out entirely and I was able to fit a small roll of monastery incense (which is usually much longer than normal incense). The design on the lid is gorgeous and beautifully done. It's about the size of two typical burners stacked together (makes sense because of the drawer), but much wider. Please note that this type of burner is NOT designed for Indian-style bamboo-core incense and there is no hole in the side of the burner. However, you can just lie the stick down as you would with coreless incense. I cannot test this out for you as I rarely use Indian incense and don't have any here to test.I took a photo with several types of incense on the fireproof cotton so you could see how much space they take up. The thinnest is Japanese incense and would also be the same as Korean sticks, as well as Chinese/Taiwanese agarwood thin-style sticks. The other three are various style Tibetan incenses. You could comfortably burn multiple sticks at a time in this burner if you chose to. I also took a photo of it next to my smaller, thinner coffin burner so you can get a better sense of the size and luxury of this one.If you are unfamiliar with how to use this style burner, you just light the incense as usual and lie it down on the fireproof mat. You can put the lid back on but be aware that while that looks very pretty, tar will accumulate on the inside of the lid and it becomes hard to clean after a time. After that happening to my previous burner, I always leave the top off when the burner is in use. While it burns it will turn to ash. The thicker the ash the more filler wood is used. The higher quality (more expensive) sticks will leave less ash. I took a photo of a Japanese stick burning and completely burned to show you what that looks like. Once the ash is cooled it is very easy to clean by tapping it into the trash, although some people "rake" the ash after several sticks and use it as a base layer over the cotton to make it last longer, although you are able to buy replacement fireproof mats when the one it comes with wears out. Up to you what you prefer to do.Overall I am absolutely thrilled that I was able to order this and add it to my collection. It is almost certain to become my primary burner as burning horizontally is my preferred method, and I love how wide it is, as well as how pretty. It's regal and gives a nice sense of dignity to my space. It is able to fit 95% of my incense, which is wonderful, as many burners are too short for monastery-style and meditation sticks. I honestly can't think of any negatives and I highly recommend it. It's beautiful!Hope this helps!

So close to perfect!

The gist of this entire review is that I love this thing unspeakably, but objectively there are a couple of problems.Number one, the tape that held the incense burner together left behind a thick, sticky mess of adhesive that wasn't super easy to remove. I didn't know if I should use goo-gone or something similar because of the wood, so I went with an old adhesive eraser I have. It did the job, but it was a lot of work, and I felt I had to be delicate about it because I didn't want to break anything.Part of what I love so intensely about the incense burner is that I can burn the type of incense I love the most and the entire stick gets used up. I use Shoyeido brand Japanese incense which is a solid incense throughout. There isn't a stick portion. When I would put the end into a stone burner with a hole, the bottom 1/4 inch or so of the stick never burns because that's the part that is in the hole. The fact that this can lay flat and burn across the entire stick is so wonderful to me. The drawer included in the incense burner holds the sticks perfectly, even the longer ones like the particular scent shown here. (These incense sticks tend to come in longer and shorter lengths. What's great about them, too, is you break them and make them even shorter. The drawback with not having a stick at their core is that they can break easily if you don't handle them gently. But this isn't an review for the incense, obviously, so I'll get back on track.)The first time I saw the entire line of ashes, I was thrilled. I dumped them out and the cloth was clean, but I did notice a line that was charred or melted or fused underneath where the incense sat. This gives me pause. I'm not sure what this little cloth is made of. It didn't catch on fire, but is it safe to burn on? Am I going out of my way to purchase a natural incense and then putting chemicals in the air anyway because I'm burning it on this cloth? I need to do some research about that.I did search this type of incense holder and found another style with a metal insert. I found the rectangular metal insert separately under "stick incense burner screen replacement" or "mesh incense burner screen". It arrived pretty dramatically bent. Again, not a review for the insert. I used it and it still worked well, so that could be an option.Overall I am SO pleased with this thing. I love the smoke coming out of the screen. I love the fact that it burns my entire incense stick. I just had reservations about the cloth lining.

Great incense burner/storage solution

This effectively eliminates incense ash and makes cleanup as easy as possible. There’s some burnproof fabric lining the box where you place an incense stick to burn horizontally with the latticed lid releasing the scented smoke. The storage drawer can hold quite a bit; in the video I have 9 sticks in a paper wrapper that fit into it. The only drawback is very fixable: the drawer and lid are taped shut unnecessarily (since it is also boxed), and the tape leaves some residue behind. I scraped it off as best I could with my fingernails. Still, this is a lovely and pleasing way of burning and storing incense sticks!
