Not a bad runner rug, depending on your expectations

I've been looking at a lot of jute products to use for things like cat walls, cat trees, and mostly other cat-related applications. This seemed like it would be good as a back for some otherwise open-backed closet shelving that I've converted for a cat wall. For that application, this isn't bad, but there are some caveats regardless of what you use it for.First, read the description completely - this is NOT made with actual jute. This rug is a relatively thin polyester that kind of looks like jute, but is much thinner that any actual jute rug I've seen. In a way, this is better for what I want to use it for, because actual jute rugs can be pretty thick, and would push my converted shelving out from the wall. With this being so much thinner, that is much less likely to happen.But, not being actual jute, I'm not 100% sure if this will be safe to use as something that cats are likely to try to climb or scratch at. Most rugs are made out of some kind of polyester, and plenty of cat trees use common rug material as covers, so I think it will be fine. But it may be less durable over time.As a rug runner, though, it seems decent enough. I've left mine on the floor to flatten out before repurposing, and it has flattened out well. It's thin enough that it's not much of a trip hazard, and the backing seems to keep it in place quite nicely. So it will probably do well on top of any carpet and most wood or vinyl flooring, depending on how that is surfaced. At worst, it should easily tack down with a little carpet tape.The surface printing is okay. It's not exceptionally dark, but it looks smart enough that it's not likely to draw anyone's attention as being "off" in any way.Overall, this probably isn't a bad buy if you need something like this in any of the patterns or sizes they have available. As thin as it is, it may not be the best option for a very high traffic area, but it's pretty reasonably priced and will do what it needs to do.
