Saggy Shelves and Flimsy Brackets

My wife wanted floating shelves in our kitchen. These looked fairly nice but also pretty cheap. The shelves themselves are hollow which is not a deal breaker if they can hold weight. Unfortunately the brackets are very flimsy and didn't make it possible to attach to two studs (16" apart). I was able to attach the bracket to one stud and use the wall anchors for the other side. After attaching the shelves they sloped down/sagged noticeably. I then attempted to shim the bracket and was finally able to get the shelves up and level. HOWEVER, adding anything to the shelves caused the shelves to sag. I returned the shelves and bought floating shelf brackets from Amazon and bought solid wood for the shelves. The cost was 50% more but now I have shelves I can use and look good.

Good shelves. Bad anchors.

The shelves are excellent! Easy installation, with an actual level (the thing they send and call a level is a joke). However I only have them 3 stars because the wall anchors that come with the shelves are horrible. They don’t expand once you drill the screw through and just leave a massive hole behind. So I had to spend extra money to buy better anchors but my shelves are up and look good!

Good set of shelf.

It’s great looking shelve. But is not solid so if you put multiple heavy bottles it may tilt forward but I added additional clamps for support and they are good. Also included screws didn’t tight the bracket enough so I used new screws from home depot. Now they good.
