Gorgeous Bottle, Lackluster Aroma
By far the nicest thing about this oil diffuser is the beautiful bottle. It is small, but sleek and elegant, and pretty enough to keep visible. Bu, the scent for me was terribly disappointing. Straight from the bottle it was discernable, but unidentifiable. I absolutely did not get "deep woody-oriental aroma with forest woods, soft spice, and subtle sweetness ." All I got was a little generic musky sweetness.To give it a real chance to change my mind, I have had it in a small powder room for a full 36 hours. The room smells basically the same with and without it. So while it looks great, it is all form, no function sadly. At this price I was disappointed.

So when I came across the VANGIE Luxury Reed Diffuser for Home, I decided to give it a try. At first I balked a bit at the price (list price of $25), but then I realized that there are plenty of scented candles that cost as much. I don't know how long reed diffusers last, but if they last as long as a scented candle, that seems like a fair price. The jar is made of glass and feels premium. I struggled a little to open the top. I couldn't tell if it was a screw top or just a stopper. It turns out it's just a stopper, and I just had to pull on it with more force than I initially thought was needed. The Black Forest scent is woodsy and masculine. Per the instructions, I soaked the reeds for a couple hours and then flipped them over. They produce a subtle scent that permeates the room. It is obviously stronger the closer you get to the jar. Again, I don't know how long this will last, but I like that unlike candles, candle warmers, wax melts, or diffusers, there's nothing you have to do once you set it up.
