Nice quality light blackout curtains

I have a guest room that gets direct sunlight and even with thick blinds the light and heat permeate the room. For blackout curtains these are a lighter weight but they arecstill of good quality. Beautiful curtains, with some caveats.

First, let me say that I have been looking for curtains for my bedroom for 28 years, and these are the first we've bought. I have struggled to know what look I wanted, color, etc.. But I really liked how these looked in the pictures and decided to try them out. I love the color, the linen-like texture, and the fact that they are blackout (that was a pre-requisite when looking). They do a great job of blocking out the light that was coming in around our shade and shining in my eyes every morning. I also love the insulating properties! We put them up just after a big cold front came through, and they instantly raised the temperature in our room several degrees. I can't wait to see how well they keep the room cooler in the summertime. The light blocking and insulating properties make them worth having! They are the perfect weight--heavy enough to look elegant, but light enough that you don't need extra robust curtain rod supports. They really elevate my whole bedroom, and make it look so much nicer. I liked them enough that I purchased a second set for my other window. I used the included rings, and they were easy to put on, though you may want to come back to this page if you need instructions, as they weren't included in the package. We figured it out without instructions.So on to the caveats... I have not been able to get the wrinkles out. Some people said their curtains were not terribly wrinkled, or called them wrinkle resistant, but that has not been my experience at all. I have steamed and steamed them, and they are somewhat better than they were right out of the package, but still very wrinkled. I tried washing one panel in a delicate cycle, and hanging it to dry, to see if that would help. I even threw it in the dryer on a very low-heat de-wrinkle cycle for a few minutes, and that did nothing. You can iron them, but only at low temperature settings (the instructions say don't even wash at temps above 86 degrees) but low temp ironing did NOTHING to these wrinkles. But I think heat above that temp will damage the blackout lining, so I didn't turn it up. The other issue with not being able to use a hotter iron is that you can't press the pleats nicely, and they don't come looking nice and sharp and even like they do in the photos. The stiffer top part of the curtain where the pleats are has a mind of its own too, and doesn't want to hang in a uniform way. And the rings twist and turn with the curtains, so some of the pleats want to face to the right, and some to the left. I tried using the back tabs to see if that would help, but they looked worse that way. So they don't hang as beautifully as I would have liked, when they are closed. I have very narrow windows, and so the curtains are bunched up quite a bit on either side, when open, and that helps to camouflage this issue. I did find that not pushing the hooks all the way into the curtain helped with the look a little bit. I inserted them to within a 1/2 inch from the top. I will work more again this weekend to try and steam the wrinkles out--wish me luck. Even with these caveats, they are lovely curtains, and we like them very much. Our bedroom has honestly never looked better.
