A nice indoor throw rug that can occasionally be used outside.

This is my review of the Tangsoo Rainbow 2’ x 3’ Easy Jute Rug, a small indoor throw rug. To be honest, I’m not sure why it’s call the “Easy Jute Rug”, unless the implication is that it is easy to use. I did find it easy to use in several locations throughout the house, and even tried it outside the front door entrance. In most cases it worked quite well.I would call this more of a mat than a rug, because of its relatively thin thickness and because the surface texture just doesn’t seem to be that of a traditional rug. I’ve had this mat/rug for about a month and have tried it out in multiple locations - inside the front door entrance, the back door entrance, under the living room coffee table, next to it, and placed between the coffee table and the sofa. Mainly in areas where there is significant foot traffic. And as mentioned above, we tried it outside in front of the main entrance for one day. But because our front entrance is located off of our lanai with its concrete surface, and without an extensive covering, we decided that the exposure to the elements would be too demanding and affect the mat’s integrity. So, it was exposed to the sun and weather for only half a day before we brought it in.Inside the house the mat did well at all locations. Behind the from door, there was plenty of clearance, so there was never a concern about the door jamming into the “rug”. In fact it seemed to be a little too thin for the front entrance. Behind the back door, the clearance was less; pretty close to a perfect match to avoid jamming. It the living room, it was nice and functional at every location we tried. Our downstairs floors consist entirely of large smooth ceramic tiles with an “off white” finish. The black color of the mat stood out in a very appealing way. The non-slip backing always provided a sure footing - no slipping or sliding of the mat on the tiles.The mat itself was surprisingly attractive in a simple design way. The beige striping and trim provides a nice accentuation to the overall black color. The stripe patterns present a pleasant geometric vision. Though the mat surface is made of a polyester fabric weave, it is a pleasant experience whether with or without footwear. (Actually feels pretty nice in bare feet.)We have found that the mat is easy to clean with a broom, a brush and some vacuuming. If liquid stains develop, a hand washing with ample water and maybe a little detergent seems to do the job. I’ve decided that this mat will not be cleaned in the washing machine, whether using cold or warm water. I just don’t want to risk the deterioration of the rubbery backing.Overall I like the look, utility, surface texture, and the non-slip backing. If only it was a little thicker. 4 stars.
