Very nice candle though it burns a little hot and lacks a lid

This 10 ounce, floral scented 100% natural soy wax candle’s vendor is Silkwishes, which specializes in ceramic goods including an extensive line of ceramic jar candles. The product dimensions given by the vendor are 3.66"W x 3.46"H. I will note that the width they give is the widest point in the center of the jar. Silkwishes doesn’t provide a weight for the jar, just the wax contained therein. I measured the weight of the jar with 10 ounces of wax and it weighed a total of 16.611 ounces. The vendor didn’t provide any information about the candle wick but it appears to be a 100% cotton wick with a couple of brown threads running through the cotton fibers. I was surprised that the candle did not have any sort of cap or lid. If you intend to store this candle for a significant length of time without burning it, I’d recommend that you improvise a lid if possible to slow down the leeching out of fragrance from this soy wax candle.This is the second Silkwishes candle that I’ve reviewed, the main difference being the message printed on the jar. Both candles are physically identical except for a tiny variation in weight and the vendor labeled the scents differently. The first candle was a lavender scent and this one is listed as a floral scent. However, the two candles have a very similar if not completely identical fragrance. All that a floral scent means is a scent similar to or derived from flowers and lavender is a scent from a flower. The scent is a lavender scent though a little on the sweet side compared to most lavender candles. My guess is that it's a blend of fragrances with lavender being a key ingredient but not the sole ingredient, so they gave this new candle a somewhat vague but more technically accurate description of being a floral fragrance.From my burn test of the previous Silkwishes candle, I know that these candles burn cleanly and evenly though the ceramic jar heats up more than most containers, so take extra care to keep an eye on this candle and place it on a burn resistant surface like stone or metal. If you burn this candle for over an hour, put it out and let it sit a while if you have a desire to move or touch it. Finally, I don’t recommend burning this candle for more than 2 hours at a time.The manufacturer has given an estimated 55 hour burn life for this candle. This is a step towards accuracy though they still have a picture which states that the candle has a 60 hour burn life like the first Silkwishes candle I reviewed. Based on my previous burn test which was unusually long, being over 19 hours, I estimate that it will take a little over 43 hours to burn all the candle’s wax. Of course, the National Candle Association recommends that you should stop burning the candle once there is less than a half an inch of wax left in the container. You don’t want to risk cracking the container with excessive heat to the base of the candle, especially since it is such a nice looking ceramic container. So, with that safety factor in mind I’d expect you’ll get about a 40 hour burn life out of this candle which is a little short for a 10 ounce candle but really isn’t that bad. I suspect the reason for the somewhat shorter burn life is that the candle burns so hot. A hot burning candle consumes the wax faster.

LOVELY SCENT, BEAUTIFUL CANDLE

This memorial candle is perfect in my opinion. It has a lavender-vanilla scent, it’s very nice and it lasts. I use my candle lamp and the candle is the perfect size, about the size of a coffee mug. This would make for a beautiful gift for someone grieving. I have mine on my brother’s memorial shelf. I feel this candle is a great value for the price.
