I got this tape for granny, she would slide on one of my loose carpets.

Safety was the number one priority for this purchase. I have a few loose area rugs on my hardwood floors that tend to "travel" or bunch up, and it became a serious tripping hazard for my grandmother when she comes to visit. I’ve tried the small rubber corner grippers before, but they always lose their stick. This Double Sided Tape is a much more permanent-feeling solution that has completely "locked" the rugs to the floor.Performance & SafetyThe main reason I’m giving this five stars is the peace of mind.Granny-Approved: Since applying this to the runner in the hallway and the rug in the living room, there hasn't been a single slip. Even when she uses her walker, the edges of the rug stay flat and do not flip up.Aggressive Adhesion: The tape is 2 inches wide, which provides a large surface area for the "bite." It sticks to the underside of the rug (even the woven/fibrous kind) as well as it sticks to the floor.Installation & Floor SafetyI was worried about my hardwood floors, but this tape is designed correctly:Easy to Use: It’s a cloth-backed tape, which means it’s much stronger than thin double-sided office tape. It’s easy to peel the yellow backing off once you’ve laid the first side down.No Residue: I tested a small strip on a hidden corner of my floor and pulled it up after 48 hours. It came off without leaving that sticky, gummy mess that duct tape or cheaper carpet tapes often leave behind.Large Roll: You get two rolls of 30 yards. That is a lot of tape. I did three large rugs and still have plenty left over for future projects.Tips for Best Results:Clean the Floor First: Make sure the hardwood is free of dust and wax before applying.Apply to Rug First: I found it easier to apply the tape to the perimeter of the rug while it was upside down, then flip the rug over and press it into the floor.Corner-to-Corner: Don't do the corners; run a strip along the entire edge that gets the most foot traffic.ProsHeavy Duty: It’s thick and feels industrial.Safety First: Prevents the "sliding rug" effect.Value: The 2-pack is a great deal for the amount of footage you get.ConsVery Sticky: Be careful not to let the tape touch itself when you are unrolling it; once it sticks to itself, it’s hard to pull apart!Final VerdictIf you have elderly family members or small children in the house, this is a must-have. It turned a "slip-and-slide" rug into a solid, safe surface in about 10 minutes. It’s a small price to pay to ensure Granny stays safe on her feet.

So far so good on our entryway rug which is usually getting pulled by our low-clearance door

Our front door has a very low clearance to our tile floor, which has made finding an entryway rug very difficult. We've tried to shim the door hinges to raise the clearance, and change out the door sweep for an even shallower one, but even when we've used what feel like super-thin rugs, they always end up getting caught by the door and tugged, tousled, and moved about. And when we briefly tried going without an entryway rug that worked fine in the summer months... But when winter (in upstate New York) hit, the entry to our house turned into a wet, slippery, and dirty space which made the no-rug option a no-go option for winter time. So, that's how we ended up with this double-sided carpet tape. It's essentially double-sided duct tape (or duck tape if you prefer), but unlike duct tape, it doesn't leave behind the sticky residue after it's been stuck on a surface for an extended period... Or at least that's the idea. The reality is that, at least in the winter, we probably won't end up leaving the tape on for long enough stretches to really test out the residue-leaving tendency (or lack thereof) because we end up needing to wash the rugs ever week or 2 to deal with all the slush/salt/dirt that gets tracked in through that door daily. But, I can say that it has allowed us to keep the rug in place for the past 2 weeks that we've been using it, which is already a huge improvement compared to the past several years without it! And it came off easily when I did pull up the rug today to wash it, so I can at least say that 2 weeks doesn't result in any residue on the floor or the back of the rug.In terms of value, you might initially be a bit skeptical of the $16.99 asking price for tape, as was I initially. But like I said, we're taking this up and washing it every 1-2 weeks, so then we have to reapply the tape and reset it, and that means we're going to run through these 2 rolls of tape faster than we'd probably like. $8.50 a roll is a bit more than I'd expect to pay for regular duct tape, but as discussed this is unique and seemingly doing a better job than anything we've tried to date. So, I'm gonna go ahead and say that this is actually a very good value if you happen to be in any sort of a situation similar to ours!

Strong and Reliable Carpet Tape

I bought this carpet tape because the area rug in the living room kept shifting and bunching up every time someone walked across it, especially with the grandkids running around and sliding on it. I needed something strong enough to hold it in place on hardwood floors without permanent damage or residue when I eventually want to move or replace the rug.I've used it to secure the rug edges and center sections—cleaning the floor first, laying down strips of the tape, then pressing the rug down firmly for a tight bond. The double-sided adhesive grips both the rug backing and the floor securely, preventing any movement or curling even after heavy foot traffic or vacuuming. The tape is thick and wide enough for good coverage, the fabric-like material conforms slightly to uneven spots without tearing, and it removes cleanly when pulled up slowly with minimal leftover stickiness that wipes away easily. The roll is generous in length for multiple rugs or larger areas, and the black color stays hidden under the rug without showing through thin spots. For the price, it's excellent value—holds much better and longer than the cheap thin tapes I've tried before that lost grip after a week or left gummy residue everywhere, and this one has kept the rug perfectly flat and stable through daily use. No slipping or peeling edges so far, five stars and it's made the living room feel way more put-together and safe for the kids playing on it.
