I got this tape for granny, she would slide on one of my loose carpets.
Safety was the number one priority for this purchase. I have a few loose area rugs on my hardwood floors that tend to "travel" or bunch up, and it became a serious tripping hazard for my grandmother when she comes to visit. I’ve tried the small rubber corner grippers before, but they always lose their stick. This Double Sided Tape is a much more permanent-feeling solution that has completely "locked" the rugs to the floor.Performance & SafetyThe main reason I’m giving this five stars is the peace of mind.Granny-Approved: Since applying this to the runner in the hallway and the rug in the living room, there hasn't been a single slip. Even when she uses her walker, the edges of the rug stay flat and do not flip up.Aggressive Adhesion: The tape is 2 inches wide, which provides a large surface area for the "bite." It sticks to the underside of the rug (even the woven/fibrous kind) as well as it sticks to the floor.Installation & Floor SafetyI was worried about my hardwood floors, but this tape is designed correctly:Easy to Use: It’s a cloth-backed tape, which means it’s much stronger than thin double-sided office tape. It’s easy to peel the yellow backing off once you’ve laid the first side down.No Residue: I tested a small strip on a hidden corner of my floor and pulled it up after 48 hours. It came off without leaving that sticky, gummy mess that duct tape or cheaper carpet tapes often leave behind.Large Roll: You get two rolls of 30 yards. That is a lot of tape. I did three large rugs and still have plenty left over for future projects.Tips for Best Results:Clean the Floor First: Make sure the hardwood is free of dust and wax before applying.Apply to Rug First: I found it easier to apply the tape to the perimeter of the rug while it was upside down, then flip the rug over and press it into the floor.Corner-to-Corner: Don't do the corners; run a strip along the entire edge that gets the most foot traffic.ProsHeavy Duty: It’s thick and feels industrial.Safety First: Prevents the "sliding rug" effect.Value: The 2-pack is a great deal for the amount of footage you get.ConsVery Sticky: Be careful not to let the tape touch itself when you are unrolling it; once it sticks to itself, it’s hard to pull apart!Final VerdictIf you have elderly family members or small children in the house, this is a must-have. It turned a "slip-and-slide" rug into a solid, safe surface in about 10 minutes. It’s a small price to pay to ensure Granny stays safe on her feet.
