How DOES it recharge??
I am STUMPED by this seemingly solar-powered lantern -- I see no traditional solar panel on this! This lantern comes with ONE rechargeable solar battery in the 2-battery compartment, which is also confusing, with no real explanation. The print on the included instruction sheet is so small, I gave up trying to read it. Despite this confusion on my part, it HAS seemingly recharged the solar battery, and does dimly light each evening for a couple of hours.The style / design of the lantern isn't my usual taste, and I don't know that I would give this as a gift. This Requires assembly of glass panels, which is a bit tricky for older fingers and eyes. It might be okay as a decoration at a memorial service or something, but not something I would recommend purchasing otherwise, at a price of $30.

I assembled the glass to the lantern and some of the metal fasteners (built on the lantern) were smashed down. I didn't notice any instructions on how to properly install the windows and used a little guesswork and common sense. The metal tabs are bendable, which meant for me to handle with extreme care. The look if it afterwards was an amazing experience to give a home for my relatives urn with a candle light. The candle has a bulb thar turns itself on and off by the light it gets. It turn on when it's dark in the room, but it doesn't come with a remote control. It is a great accent as a memorable piece to honor someone's life.There is one battery in the candle even though there are two slots for batteries. Yrt, it still functions with the battery that comes with the electronic candle.

Good reasons for three stars
The end result of this little lantern with flameless candle is cute and charming but there are a couple of reasons why I dislike this product. First, you have to assemble it yourself. The little panes of glass are thin and fragile; they are packaged well and survived the trip but I was very nervous about sticking them into a metal box. I've been cut by glass before and was hesitant. Since there are no directions, I wasn't sure which panel went where so I figured it was up to me to decide. You have to bend some tiny metal prongs out to put the glass in, which brings me to my second problem. My hands are inflamed and it hurts very much to have to bend those out, then in again once the glass is installed. If you don't have hand/joint problems this probably wouldn't be a big deal but those little metal things hurt my fingers. Next, three of the panes of glass fit perfectly but the last one just wouldn't go in and it got stuck. That's when I tried switching them around and that worked, so there was more unnerving handling of thin fragile glass and glass scraping against metal. Lastly, the candle doesn't work. It's the first flameless candle I've ever had that didn't work straight out of the box. It has a AA green battery with it-you have to pull a tab from behind the battery then reinstall and add your own AA battery in addition to the green one. The candle would flicker when I was messing with the batteries but when I turned the candle back over it would not stay on-it kept turning right back off. For the hassle and non working candle I do not recommend this and do not consider it giftable at all. If it came assembled I wouldn't hesitate to go up one star because I could always use a different candle.

Beautiful and Unique Solar Lantern — Can’t Wait to See It Glow
I love this lantern! I’ve honestly never had a solar lantern before, so I’m pretty excited to see how it works. The candle inside is supposed to be solar powered, and I can see there’s a rechargeable battery, but I’m not quite sure how it recharges itself—so I’m going to throw it outside and find out! The build is solid, the glass is really nice with sunflowers on it, and the metal frame feels strong and sturdy. It was packaged great, arrived quickly, and I’m super happy with how it looks. You can see the functionality as the candle is already working, perfect size and value is their. Can’t wait to see it light up at night!
