My Dog Stopped Slipping and I Stopped Having Heart Attacks on the Stairs
I have a two-story house with hardwood stairs and an 8-year-old golden retriever who apparently thinks he's still a puppy. The combo of hardwood stairs and an enthusiastic dog who runs up and down them multiple times a day was giving me serious anxiety. He'd slip constantly, scrambling to get traction, and I was terrified he was gonna hurt himself. I looked into getting carpet installed on the stairs but the quotes I got were like $800+ which seemed insane.So I started looking at these stair tread options and honestly I was skeptical. My dog goes up and down these stairs probably 20+ times a day and they're holding up great. I go up and down carrying laundry baskets, my kids run on them, and they're still in perfect shape.Actually the traction helps me too, especially when I'm wearing socks. I used to have to be super careful going down the stairs in socks because the hardwood is slippery. Now I can just walk normally without doing that awkward careful shuffle. The material doesn't seem to stain easily.The non-slip backing is also great - that's the side that sticks to the stairs. It means the treads themselves aren't going anywhere even with constant foot traffic. Some of these products just use regular adhesive that can fail over time, but these have that rubberized non-slip backing that really grips the wood.My neighbor saw these and asked about them because she's got the same issue with her older dog slipping on their stairs. I sent her the link and she got them too. She texted me a week later saying they worked perfectly for her dog and she wished she'd gotten them sooner.If you've got hardwood stairs and pets, or kids, or if you yourself have slipped on your stairs and want some extra safety, these are absolutely worth it.
