Unbelievable smell really, really fantastic.
Love it 🙏
I love burning different incense at home to create a more peaceful, uplifting atmosphere for my meditation, yoga, or just sitting and relaxing while reading. These hand-rolled Palo Santo sticks are some fantastic finds, they are thicker than many other brands and quite slow-burning, giving well over an hour of purifying aroma. Though the product description says there are 24 sticks I actually received 25 sticks, a great value for the price. Lighting them releases a light citrus scent that then settles into warm, woody smell, leaving my home feeling calm and peaceful. I also like that they’re mess-free, making my daily smudging rather effortless compared to my traditional palo santo smudge bundles. The blend of fallen Bursera graveolens (Palo Santo) wood, aromatic herbs, spices, and essential oils is beautifully made, giving my home a comforting, ethereal scent that lingers just long enough. The high quality is also impressive, making them a lovely gift for anyone who enjoys mindful, calming rituals or even simply relaxing with a pleasant aroma. They definitely are an excellent product. I’m absolutely thrilled with these incense sticks and can’t wait to try more products from Calmveda.
I really like these incense sticks overall. The scent is warm, smooth, and long-lasting. It does remind me slightly of the classic blue box nag champa, but in a softer, more grounded way. It’s a really pleasant aroma that lingers nicely without being overwhelming. They burn cleanly and have a decent burn time. I also appreciate that the box includes two sealed packs of 12 sticks. That feels like a nice touch and helps keep the incense fresher longer. That said, they are on the higher end price-wise at about $0.42 per stick ($9.99 for 24). The packaging notes that they contain 15% powdered Palo Santo from Peru, and the sticks themselves are made in India. I would personally love a bit more transparency about the full ingredient breakdown, but overall the quality seems good.If you enjoy Palo Santo-style incense with a slightly classic incense vibe and don’t mind paying a little more per stick, these are a solid option.
These sticks offer a softer Palo Santo fragrance than burning the raw wood, though the scent remains clearly recognizable both during and after use. The fragrance lingers for approximately 48 hours. While burning, the spice notes are prominent; the "after-burn" reminds me slightly of the iconic Satya Nag Champa (blue box) that my college roommate used daily. The sticks are thicker than average cored incense. They burn slowly, though the burn rate increases if the tip is exposed to the flame for too long. They leave no residue behind—only ash and the inner stick.Value & EthicsAt $0.42 per stick, these are priced at the higher end. The hand-rolled quality is evident, and the company’s commitment to sustainability, upcycling plant waste, and providing safe employment for women in India is laudable. In comparison, prominent brands like Satya (BNG) cost 90% less. While Satya is also hand-rolled and claims ethical working conditions and IFRA safety compliance, their specific ingredients are less transparent than this brand's eco-focused approach. It seems like this product has a higher price tag for costs related to sustainability.
I burn a lot of Incence. I am more of an Incene person than a candle person - so, I normally have a bit of variety. I group my Incence sticks into two groups - Spiritual (Lot of Wood-based, Rare Oil ) and Other (Floral, perfume-based…etc). I will burn different types depending on what I’m doing, the mood I’m in, the room I’m in, Time of Day, and the weather…etc…I would put these Palo Santo Sticks more into the Spiritual Group. It’s very earthy, and woody and is closer to authentic Indian Incence, than more floral ones. When you open the box, you will notice that the sticks look different than most you will purchase. The texture of the Incence is not smooth - it is uneven and organic looking - Like it was made by hand, not machine. The Stick takes a little longer to Light than others, likely because it is “wetter” with fragrance - but, I was still able to get it lit with one wooden match. The fragrance is intense. And the sticks burn a lot longer than other sticks. So, the aroma will dominate other pre-existing scents and odors - and become the “smell” of the room you burn it in.Like most “Spiritual” incense, there is a calming effect as the fragrance swells into the room … which is nice , if calm is the mood you wanted to set….I did have one weird/negative issue, that was likely just a”me” thing. I burned the Palo Santo stick in a medium-sized room. The stick burned so intensely, and So Long… That I felt myself getting a little “overcome” and nauseous…It was just a little bit too much for me. I had to move the holder to the adjacent room after about 70% of the stick had burned. Going forward, I will likely burn about half of the stick at a time… Which will increase the value of the sticks even more. The pack already costs less than $10, and burn for about 2x as long as a bunch of the other skinny sticks; so if I can use each stick twice to cover an entire room, then the pack has doubled, in a sense…And the Aroma does linger in the room, well after the burning has stopped - which means than you don’t need to light another for a while to keep the scent.Overall… strong and calm-inducing, burns a very long time - which may be too much of a good thing…but, of course, is a good and manageable “problem” to have.
