The description said 'Walnut" but I think maybe it is Ash wood. The patchwork patter is even prettier than Walnut or Acacia. If I'm right, it was a very pleasant upgrade. Box was perfectly made, lid fit exactly, all corners were sharp, no excess glue, very good quality control and attention to detail.

Product just arrived today and for the most part I am pleased for the cost. Here's a few pros and cons after unboxing.Pros: solid - the box itself doesn't feel cheaply made.I am pleased with the size as it is exactly as described.Nice finished on the woodNow here is the one con that I found that was the deciding factor on giving this 4 stars:The locking mechanism was misaligned and I have to insert the key at an angle in order to get the lock to function. Also - the latch that secures the box was also misaligned slightly and I need to put quite a bit of pressure in order for it to latch properly.This is a pretty significant flaw in the product, and I think there should be some following up on the quality control. I probably wouldn't purchase this again for the simple fact that I can't trust the quality.
