Gave this as a Christmas present to a person that collects wooden crafted items. The links seem to be made well and are smooth feeling. The wood color was great as they matched other items in the collection.
There are a lot of variations of these wood chain décor pieces on the market and as it is a hand made natural product, there can variations even in the same maker.But these are perfect in every way for my use. the color is a bleached white color, but with enough of the wood tone showing through that you know it is wood.
This item says it's handcarved and may have variances. I'm not saying it wasn't.What I am saying is that I see three practically identically dimensioned links, all showing the same surface finish and grain tearout as I've seen from machine finished surfaces. I'm not saying they were machined.I'm also seeing that these links are comprised of wood pieces that were laminated together. The listing does not make any claim as to the use of solid or laminated base product one way or the other that I could find. So there's a piece of info I'm imparting to you if it matters to you.It's wood, it's chain link. There's our three stars.When I buy something because it's handmade, I want it to appear very obviously, uniquely, handmade. Again I'm not saying this is not handmade. It's just not fitting this particular customer's expectations of what that means/looks like.In my opinion what this offering provides is wooden chain links of a certain general size. Three of them linked together. What you're left with is price.You can see up by my name in this review the price I paid for this item is zero. If I were in the market to purchase wooden chain link lengths... I see other listings where you get more links for less money. Even then... I don't think I'm a customer for this type of product -at this price-. At anywhere near this price area...So: am I just totally missing something that all you five star buyers/reviewers know...? Or am I looking at the emperor's new clothes and being the guy to say "hey now, uh....?" Nothing personal in any case. I like that wood chain link chains exist. they're neat. I am a wood workerand still find this cool...were the made on a CNC, then the final bits by hand? I assume so... cant think how else they could have done this... unless it was all done by hand...great size, cool.... I would stain and shellac them, so you can see the real wood, which is what makes it cool...if you paint them, then its not obvious whats under them.....very light weight wood that I never heard of ..... great little art piece that would take forever to try to duplicate yourself ! Great conversation piece...
Today I'm reviewing this 3-link wood knot decoration by Scubert,We'll go ahead and take this out of the packaging and see what we've got. Inside we have our three links. The wood feels relatively smooth, fairly lightweight. Not huge, I had thought this would be bigger. The overall size seems very reasonable. Each link is about 5.75x3.75 inches. The overall length of the chain is about 13 inches long.This seems fairly lightweight. I'll add this to our other decorations. I'm going to probably add a bit of a finish to this wood to make it look a little bit different. I'll add some pictures for before and after the finishing. The links themselves seem consistent, except for one that has two noticeably different tones of wood.I'm showing the unfinished links next to a similar type of finished wood decoration. Next, I'm showing the chain with before/after next to that same decoration with the same finish. Then moving on to a before/after showing the chain on its own. We're still trying to find how this fits with our decor, but the quality of this item is top-notch. The wood takes my preferred oil finish easily and looks great in my opinion.I'm rating this wooden decoration five out of five stars.Pros- Lightweight- Readily takes my preferred wood finish- Quality seems goodCons- The design isn't fitting well in my decor just yet
