Smaller amount compared to regular bundles, but cost more?

I've bought sage multiple times from this vendor with no complaints, as it's always of a good quality and decently priced. However I couldn't help but be disappointed by these for several reasons. I was immediately drawn to the slender "ergonomic" bottom, as it seemed it'd be more convenient to hold, as well as helping to know which end to light. And they appear to have a better leaf to stem ratio. But when they arrived, they were much smaller than I'd anticipated, with one bundle in particular being near half the size of the rest. If they were less in price than the regular smudge sticks, I'd understand, but the fact that they cost more while containing significantly less sage per bundle. I thought they'd at least be longer and thicker, to make up for what's lost in order to create a tapered bottom, but nope... Again, were these priced lower to account for the lesser overall amount of sage, it'd make sense. But they cost more, for close to half the amount of product you get with the non-tapered wands. They were also crumbling quite a bit in the bag, and a couple of them were poorly bound with the string. The quality of the sage itself is still great, and it burns well and smells fresh. I'm just bummed at how much less I recieved compared to the ones I usually buy. I do really like the ease of holding these, though.

Questionable residue

Showed up and packaged beautifully but that’s it. These are very loosely wrapped and fall apart immediately. Since they are loose they burn good at the start but instantly die away. They also seem to leave a residue of some kind that I have never had in any other smudge sticks. It ruined my holder with this residue and has me questioning what it is exactly. I will be buying from someone else next time.
