Durable and looks great

This is a hessian rug and is not meant to be soft, so don't buy this thinking that it's going to be soft. It is a great quality hessian/jute/seagrass rug that has stood the test of time in my busy hallway. It has not shed nor has it tore. It generally stays put due to the backing and is a nice quality heavy weight.I am really surprised that, given the low price, the rug has lasted almost a year of daily wear and tear. It looks exactly the same as the first time I unrolled it. As it is a natural fiber, it had the scent of seagrass but that went away after a couple weeks and it was not an unpleasant smell to begin with as it's a natural smell instead of plastic or chemicals.Overall I really recommend this rug, just make sure you research the texture of the rug maybe from a store, and look up how to maintain it. We only vacuum it periodically and it is fine!

Completely Satisfied!

Yes, it does smell a little like hay, but the smell went away after 2 days. I love the heft of the rug and the border is a good weight to match it. Also lays perfectly flat in a day or two. I used this in my garage by the cabinets and it does not slip on the cement. So far, no shedding issues. The runner size is accurate to my measurements (2'x12') and the color is beautiful! This is the second rug I've purchased from this company Safavieh. Will go straight to them when in need for another rug 👍

It's damaged - braids are pulling out of the rug and it was JUST DELIVERED TODAY.By the way, SAFAVIEH : 47x48 is not 4' square. The choice is 48x48This is FALSE ADVERTISING.It's a full inch off, and does NOT FIT in the space. Waste of TIME.

Natural Perfection

I ordered two of these in slightly different sizes for the two main entryways in my home. We recently installed wood flooring, and needed something to catch the dirt, dust, and--I am ashamed to say--any stray cat litter our two cats manage to carry out of the litter boxes. The one that is in the hallway between the garage door and laundry room where the litter boxes are helps to trap any stray bits of litter, preventing it from blowing or rolling onto the wood flooring. Once or twice a week, I pick it up, shake it out (outside) and lay it down again, fresh and ready to do its job.These rugs are not soft on the feet. They probably shouldn't be soaked or covered with mud. That said, they hide dirt and soiling like no one's business. We've had a few cat events occur directly on the rugs, and it's crazy how after a quick wipe up, there is no evidence of the mess.A couple of things to keep in mind:1) The rugs do slide on the wood floors. I will be purchasing a non-slip pad for the one at the front door.2) They have some height, so you need about 1/2 inch clearance between the floor and a door. We found this tricky,because our floors are pretty high, and our front door has rubber weather-striping at the bottom.Overall, I really like the natural look and the dirt-trapping qualities of these rugs!

I had to utilize it for another area of the home. It was already coming apart with several weeks, but overall durable thickness is there but the stiffness definitely there. It is not soft, not whatsoever not foldable, but it does start to unravel make a little bit of a mess.
