Great frame for the price

Update: just noticed a chip/dent on the frame. This was shipped without any additional protection in a box too large, so it’s not surprising since it’s soft wood. Oh well.I tend to be a bit of a frame snob, having worked in custom picture framing. But custom framing and high quality frames in general can be very expensive! This large frame is a great balance between value and quality.The frame is real solid wood. Not hardwood, and it’s unfinished. Which is nice if you want to stain or paint it to be a custom color. I like the natural color and will just poly seal it.Yes, instead of glass these come with lightweight acrylic plexi. Shipping 24x36 glass is very risky and expensive. Additionally, the moulding isn’t wide/strong enough to support glass, so I wouldn’t recommend replacing the plexi with glass in this frame. Lots of people hang this stuff in kids rooms and the walls over their beds - bad combo with glass!

Seemed cheap, but pleasantly surprised

This came in the biggest box ever! I immediately opened it thinking it was going to be broken, but it was in perfect condition. I didn't realize it is plexiglass and not glass. However, when I took the film off both sides, it looked great! Very durable. I'm excited to hang it on my wall now. The wood look is nice also. It is deep enought to hold a 3/16" matted picture frame inside.

Wood Not Sealed and Splinters VERY easily! Ouch!

Beautiful frame but VERY rough, splintered edges so should be handled with gloves. Unfortunately the first frame I purchased came completely broken--the wood was severed in half. So I ordered a second one and while usable, I received several deep splinters in my hand just unpacking it and touching the edges. The splintered edges also leave lapses of the blue color on the frame because it's just lightly painted in the surface. So when a small portion splinters and falls off then you're left with natural wood which isn't the best overall look. I've still figured out a way to use it but it would be MUCH better if the manufacturer sealed/glazed the wood so it can be handled more easily, especially since frames cost a lot of money!
