Gorgeous!!! So soft!!!
DON’T MAKE MY MISTAKE!!!I know it’s long but if you can read through it, you’ll save time, money and extend the life of your rug.I posted a close-up of what the rug looks like underneath the couch where I did not shampoo it, and another close-up of what the carpet looks like that was shampooed. HUGE DIFFERENCE! Can’t be fixed!1st -LOVE! LOVE, LOVE! I have been on a never ending roller coaster journey with area rugs for my home. This Vogue Geo rug is my 11th rug purchase this year, several frustrated arguments, and lots of divorce threats these rugs have caused me this year (2025) so far I’ve returned all that could be returned, sold a couple that couldn’t be returned, and gave away the others that I had to eat it on.Except this one 🙏🏼🙌🏽.Either the color is not true to the pictures and or description online or quality is less than what was expected or promised. Not joking… this rug is absolutely STUNNING in person! It’s beautiful online but it is so much better in person, pictures don’t do it justice.(More & Better pictures @ Rugs.com’s website). The quality of this rug was unexpected for the price that I paid. 6’ x 9’ $148.99, 2’7x 12’ runner and 7’10x 10’ rectangle. This rug looks and feels luxurious and high-end. Genuinely confused why they don’t sell this rug for a lot more money, but grateful that it is affordable.Incredibly soft! Silky to the touch, vacuums well. It doesn’t look messy when it’s walked on like some rugs do. The color is a rich, warm and earthy gray on the taupe-silver color scale side. True to color in the pictures on Rugs.coms site.White stripes are a silvery champagne and a touch of glossy shimmer.I love each version of Gray this rug turn no matter the time of day or kind of light. If my curtains are all open with full daylight morning or high afternoon the gray is this earthy warm gray.In the evening with curtains drawn and my ambience dim cool lighting the gray becomes plumbeous, like a modern gun metal gray. It’s Perfect! With the quality and length of fibers and pile 1/2” of the rug, you don't need a pad underneath. I don’t and I have hardwood floors. I did put a pad underneath of it and you really couldn’t tell much of a difference. Comfortable to lay or sit on… to do all of your Christmas wrapping lol, it’s soft! Great for the babies crawling on, didn’t need a blanket.Has soft backing without the rough edge stitching, so it will not scratch your floors.2nd and final -I’ve owned all mine for almost 2 months now. My only complaint and I hate to say this but had I known this information or read it in someone else’s review it would have saved me so much time and money. Everyone writes reviews when the product first comes. And out of the box it was amazing. So no bad reviews or reviews in a year to see how the rug has held up. I decided to write this review because of the mistakes and misleading information I was given on the care instructions.I loved it and still do, but until I shampooed it, it’s all changed and I have ruined the integrity out the gecko because I was misinformed.I shampooed the rugs after only two months because of the amount of traffic and walking by family and friends over the holidays, no stains, nothing was spilled or dropped, no one had muddy shoes. I’m in Oregon so it’s only rained a bit.Just wanted it fresh now that all the company is gone. I shampooed all three of them and the pretty white silvery lines are now a lil’ dingy looking ( no longer shimmery) threads/fibers of this rug don’t lay neatly anymore. I got down on my knees, spent 6 hrs brushing all three rugs by hand with a soft bristle brush made for suede shoes, brushed out the threads to make them all lay the same direction. Still with every thread combed the same way they do not look like it was when it was brand new. Heartbroken… i tried several things, I used a high powered fan to “wind-comb” as the call it, used our leaf blower, that worked the best with the combing. Wind combing is a natural way of grouping fibers together. Zero friction from brushing, and detangling. The high-powered fan just caused more anxiety for me as my paintings and pictures rattled on the walls and items were blown over. Tried 3 different vacuums to “re-fluff”, and “groom” the threads, 3 different rotations and style of brushes on these vacuums. All vacuuming with the grain and not against. Unfortunately they just are not the same anymore, they look better but not like new.Hate to admit it, but I actually cried a little. Disheartened, following manufacturers care instructions and was lighter and more gentle than care instructions, it just looks like I dated the rug a year. I did not use any harsh chemicals. Used my new carpet cleaner, a splash of carpet detergent 1/2 less detergent then I was supposed to, and just good ol’ warm water.Like I said they weren’t stained or dirty. I didn’t overly soil them. Very minimum water was used. When I was done they felt almost dry to the touch. Used box fans pointed at them to circulate the air, ceiling fans were turned on as well as Windows cracked, 65° outside sunshine, beautiful day. Turned up the heat a bit to 67 to help them fully dry quickly.Ran some errands came back to dry carpets, but they didn’t look clean??? They looked off color, slightly dingy, and messy. It’s similar to having permed or naturally curly hair and when fresh out of the shower, running your fingers through your hair and soft combing the curls into sleek, neat, smooth curls… Then when your hair dries, taking a hair brush and combing your hair and all of curls break up, and your left with a frizzy fro. This rug did the same thing. All of these fibers were together and silky, and by washing and drying them, broke them up and now looks fuzzy and not as clean and silky anymore. I’m a General Manager for Hilton and oversee 3 brands, we have incredible carpet professionals who have seen it all and saved me thousands and thousands of dollars in restoring flooring instead of having to replace. Incredibly knowledgeable of all different types of Rug materials and the different care and restoration processes, They suggested not using any carpet cleaners that have circular rotating brushes, (that’s ALL of them) they separate the threads and put strain on the fibers fraying and damaging them in the scrubbing process.Recommend - ONLY spray- mist a light pre-treatment over the concerned areas and with a warm, soft rag or brush the rug, consecutively in the same direction as if you were combing your hair , for the “scrubbing” part and use the suction part of the vacuum and drag it in the same direction the scrubbing/wiping was done, then placing dry towels over and underneath the wet areas. Allow it to sit for 24 to 48 hours without being stepped on or disturb, switch out tolls if needed.Have a fan circulate the air, turn on dehumidifier if you have for leftover moisture. Then to “fluff”, the carpet go over with a handheld carpet rake or with the suction option on your vacuum . Do not to turn on the rotating wheel.Drag the vacuum in the same direction as you scrubbed/rubbed.He said always going with the grain and not against. Most carpets can’t tolerate back-and-forth motions, harsher bristle brushes, because they were made with more durable, high traffic materials and blends. This rug has 70% polyurethane and 30% polyester. Best way to keep the integrity of the color, fibers and backing, to never use water down bleach (literally several instructions say this), bleach breaks down colors vibrancy, damages, and fractures, fiber hairs. Most over-the-counter carpet cleaners have too much heavy soaps, detergents, deodorizer, and chemicals to treat, stains. Traditionally they leave a residue that most carpet cleaners do not get out, perfumes, using hydrogen peroxide based cleaner on your carpets for stain removal, and sanitation is the best for carpets and fabric. Keeping intact the integrity of the material and protecting it from any color changing bleaches. He said do you ever notice when people continue to use bleach time and a time and time again and White only get more dingy and brown looking overtime? You can only use bleach to brighten your clothing before it breaks down the actual fibers and causes more damage than it’s worth. Cleaners with hydrogen peroxide, have one awards and are not only the safest to use on different materials and fabrics, but also more effective than harsh chemicals and bleaches. Then most importantly, after shampooing your carpets just before they are done drying shampooing them again with plain warm distilled water, extracting the moisture with a high-powered suction vacuum like truck mounts to draw moisture from the padding down. All the soap residue left over from these detergent and home carpet cleaners build up overtime and dirt sticks to it more and then is harder to get out and or impossible to get out.A few days later, I tried this cleaning method, took me two days on my hands and knees doing this method of gentle cleaning, then had the cleaner come back over with his high-powered truck mounted vacuum for the water extraction part. His vacuum has the option of using the suction without having bristles turned on or activated. My personal carpet cleaner does not have that option to shut off the bristles and only use the section and our shop vac was too small. This method of cleaning seemed to work the best and they do look 50% better. However, I believe that had I known this initially, and started with this cleaning method, I would’ve not damaged my current rugs and they probably would still look brand new.The color has slightly changed because the fibers have split and ever so slightly lighter and a little messy rather than the rich, beautiful taupe gray that it was. I think shampooing it the traditional way ruined the integrity of the rug. I read the care instructions on the back of the rug as well as the instructions from the manufacturers website Vogue Geo Rug - (Rugs.com) SKU # 6417214 you would be absolutely shocked in a different methods to cleaning. From using water down bleach, vinegar, dish soap, hairspray, rubbing alcohol or my favorite… garden hose and dust broom 🤦🏻♀️ a steam cleaner, warm water, hydrogen peroxide based cleaner and a high-powered section extraction with multiple pass-through of plain water after for thorough rinsing is the best for this rug and all other rugs and carpets.Sorry this was so long, but I felt all the information was important. I hope it saves you time and money. I’m lazy and only read the short reviews and brush them over, and convince myself I did my due diligence. Next time ill do my homework, be patient and test a small area first before jumping in with both feet.
