Off gassing/toxin concerns and mild quality deficits

After much research, we got this rug for our living room. It is pretty - the purple is soft, heathered, and looks nice in our space. It lays nicely over the wall-to-wall carpet we have already in place and because it came folded and not rolled, the edges lay flat. However, there are a couple drawbacks that lessen the quality and value we find with this rug.First of all, and most importantly, the off gassing is HORRIBLE. It stinks and has made the room smell - still detectable after a week out with an air purifier running and the doors open as the weather allows. I vacuum it daily. I do have concerns about what toxins it is releasing and what my dogs are exposed to when they lay directly on it. For this alone I would return it but since we've used it for a week now, I don't know if the seller would take it back, or if we would have to pay to have it returned.Second, it is THIN and a little delicate. If you are putting it over another carpet, it would be fine, but if you are planning to put it over laminate or wood flooring, get a rug pad. The weave is somewhat delicate, as well, and I've noticed that the dogs' claws have pulled some of the shag, requiring individual strings to need trimming. Based on this, I would suggest keeping in an area with less traffic, like an office or bedroom.Third, there are looped areas that create the floral pattern, interspersed with the longer, shaggy areas,. In some sections, the backing was visible where these areas meet. However, this went away with vacuuming. This isn't necessarily an issue, but just beware that you may see the white backing when you first set the rug up and before you vacuum it.All-in-all, I would say this was an okay purchase. I have gotten much better quality at a lower price and minus the horrid off gassing with the Calypso and other collections at esalerugs.com. (They might be affiliated with the seller of this rug - I'm not sure.) I will keep the rug, but only because we have used it for a week now and I doubt the seller will take it back.

CHEAP!!!!

This has to be the worst carpet I’ve ever ordered.When it arrived, it was folded.I thought I ordered the wrong size.Nope, it was a 8x10 exactly what I ordered.Opened it up and it smells and it had so many crease’s.I tried to vacuum it to get the wrinkles out and all the treading that was loose on it.When I vacuumed the carpet, you can see the back of the carpet.It’s going back!!!I will be ordering something else.Buyer be aware… don’t do it!!!
