If you have long incense sticks this holder is a tiny bit too short to catch the first bit of ash, but I just trimmed the bare end of the stick to have them fit and it works beautifully. The metal is sturdy and much safer than using a shallow wooden holder that might not catch all the ash.

As long as you use the short incense that came with the product it catches all the ashes but if you use longer stem incense the ashes will drop on the floor.
