Total blackout and the thermal lining works as well. I'm noticing sound dampening as well.

I'm going to give these five stars based off the fact that they truly do the blackout function and thermal lining function really well. My only issue is that they are not a true dark navy blue. They are close, but a little bit of cornflower blue as well.The velvet does look good and has a luxurious feel. I just wish the color was a little bit darker. However, these were priced competitively and they work really well.

Not velvet and not reliable measurements.

The material is not velvet, it's a soft fabric, but does not have the nap of velvet. The measurements are unreliable. Of 12 panels every one varies in width and in length. You could have a variance from 83 1/2 to 85 2/3 on one panel alone. The pleater tape on each panel varies significantly from one panel to the next AND from one end of a panel to the other end. Also the pleater tape is very narrow and thin. The entire panel is merely baste stitched. The side hems, the hem, the pleater tape . . . everything is baste stitched, not sewn in a reliable stitch. You may be able to make the drapes look nice enough in your room, but you are not getting velvet drapes.
