Beautiful Rug! Don't be afraid to buy used/warehouse deal!

I had been eyeing similar natural fiber rugs for my boys' room remodel. I was afraid to purchase anything super expensive for fear of stains or simply hating the texture (never owned any natural fiber rugs). I ran across this rug because of the initial price point--then found it available through a warehouse deal. This rug has a very nice quality to it! Its definitely not as soft as a wool rug, so don't expect soft and plush like cashmere. My 6 year old son says he loves the feel under his feet when he hops out of bed in the mornings. My 5 year old son hasn't made any mention of it one way or the other. I don't think Id recommend it for a newly crawling baby in a main living space; but to pull a room together, i think it works perfectly. It reminds me of high quality soft wicker furniture, without the scratchy brittleness. I saved about $40 on purchasing "used" under the amazon warehouse deal. It was listed as "Used - Very Good - Small cosmetic imperfection on top, front or sides of item. Item will come repackaged.", thinking that if there was any damage, I could hide under a bed; however that was not even the case. It came in great condition (with a few small unnoticeable pulls here & there, common with natural fiber), and it was delivered repackaged in a safe protective wrapping. I highly recommend this cheaper alternative to sisal or jute, simply because if it gets damaged or stained, I dont have $$$ tied up in something that can't be cleaned. This is my 3rd purchase from an amazon warehouse deal as "used" and have always received what appears to be a brand new item. I am now convinced that I will always shop those deals first! ((For reference this room is a 12x12 and the rug is a 6X9.))

Durable, washable, dog-friendly, and classy.

I purchased three different sizes (6X9 and two smaller ones) to use on saltillo tile and concrete area on back porch. I have two dogs, one elderly with hip problems which cause her to slip on hard surfaces, and the other a massive Great Dane who doesn't like to lie down on hard surfaces. It does a great job of providing traction for the older dog without need for another skid proof underlayer. The underpadding grips the floor well without pulling up sealant on saltillo tile.As dogs sometimes do, my pooches vomited on the rug twice during the first two weeks I had the rug. Super easy cleanup ( We live in Arizona, a hot dry climate, so I just hosed it off and stretched it between a few chairs outside to dry). Rug took a few days to "uncurl" when weighted down at the corners, though hosing off, and hanging large rug between chairs in the sun so that corners fell the opposite direction took care of that right away. The texture is imperfect (a few knots here and there), but it's part of the earthy natural touch that I was looking for. The finished edges give it a classy look and feel (certainly better than the raw concrete surface it's sitting on), and the texture is super comfortable to walk on barefooted.I would recommend this product if you like a natural, earthy feel and are looking for something that grips well to the floor. I've had it for about a month now, and it's wearing very well. That said, I would not recommend it for cat owners, as my son's visiting cat thought it was his own personal scratching mat. I had to hide it in another room until cat returned to my son's home.

Had my doubts

I first ordered a “like new” mat that arrived with a big brown stain on the canvas trim. Issued a return but the quality appeared good, with a tight weave, as I wanted, so I repurchased a new one. The new one arrived yesterday so tightly rolled that it practically rolled itself back up when I tried to lay it flat. I rolled it the opposite direction, placed it upside down with a few weights on the corners for a few hours, took a blow dryer to the back side, but it still refused to lay remotely flat. As a last attempt, I rolled it one last time, opposite of how it was shipped but according to Nuloom’s suggestion of rolling at a diagonal, positioned so it couldn’t unravel and left it overnight. This morning it laid almost flat, with one corner a bit lifted. I got the 2x3 size to use next to my backdoor. I had planned to order a larger size for my front entrance but fear the steps I needed to take to get the small one flat would be much harder with a larger size. It is extremely stiff and stubborn but looks nice as an entry rug if you can get it flat.
