Very cool and modern jute rug, apparently handmade

Until I started this review I didn't know it was handwoven! When I vacuumed it I got up a lot of hair, the family was here for Christmas but it was a magnificent amount of hair. It is quite beautiful and everyone complimented me on it. It did have some dirt or something when I laid it down and I had to pick it up to move it there was dirt down there but I just vacuumed it up. It isn't the kind of rug you want to sit on that much but it looks super good with my furniture and I wanted kind of a coastal look which I achieved with a jute rug. I will take a picture of it. It looks like really good quality, I've only been walking on it for about three weeks. I really like the size, it's bigger than most of the rugs I've had and it does lay very flat and the corners do not curl up. Took a picture so you could see that it lays flat There is no wrinkling. I think if I needed to clean it I would just take it outside on the patio and spray it off and let the sun dry it. I love the variation in the color, it has a lot of personality, I got the 7 foot 6" x 9' one and look how it fills up in my living area. It was a very good price and I feel pretty good about it.

I love this thing

I bought this to replace a polyester/polyethelene carpet I had bought about six years ago. The rug is in a very high traffic area (a thoroughfare in our row house style apartment). The room also is my plant room. I was kind of careless about dripping water on the rug, and eventually it started to stink like mildew. But even in areas where I hadn't dripped water, the poly rug started to smell really bad. I thought I'd try shampooing the rug, but even this didn't take care of the odor. And when I vacuumed, there was always red residue from the red rug. It was obviously breaking apart from the wear and tear, causing the petroleum based fibers to give off an odor and releasing the dreaded microplastics into our environment.So. I wanted to replace it with an affordable natural fiber option. I did my research about jute so I wouldn't encounter any surprises. I'm on a super tight budget as I'm about to begin student teaching for three months which means no income for three months. The rug I needed to replace was in the room where I like to study. I did not want to be in this room where the carpet stank. The floor underneath it (I rent) is icy cold marble that needs to be refinished and looks disgusting and gross no matter how many times I clean it. Why pay hundreds of dollars for a carpet that is made from the same fibers as a less expensive jute rug and made in the same manner (handwoven)? This one was affordable. It was not very heavy to carry and though it had some creases and bumps at first, they quickly went away. Though the rug itself is not heavy, it lays well. I was able to salvage the rug pad from my previous carpet, but ended up throwing it away because this baby does not need any padding below it. It is nice and thick. I was nervous that my cats would scratch at it, but they haven't yet. They seem to really enjoy it, too. I was worried, too, that it would be rough and uncomfortable for doing my stretches on it, but that is not true. It's not exactly "soft" but doesn't feel hard or scratchy. In fact, the thick weave feels sort of massaging on your feet. I did not experience any debris falling off the rug, and the odor from the natural jute is minimal. In fact, I like it! Have you ever been to a haunted house? Where they use plenty of burlap to make walls or other scenery? It smells like that. Or perhaps you've visited the Pawnee Earth Lodge at Chicago's Field Museum. It smells like that. The smell is one thousand times more preferable to the previous petroleum odor that filled the room. I will be looking into buying more jute rugs in the future. I anticipate this one to last a long time, and also anticipate it will fare better if/when I spill plant water on it. Bravo to this rug.

Beautiful jute runner rug!

Beautiful jute runner rug! I was needing something for the kitchen that would be durable, attractive and affordable. I'm in love with it! The texture is just right ~ not too hard and definitely not flimsy. Easy to clean with my vacuum attachments. Would buy it again and again and again!

Great jute rug. Strong smell however.

Great quality for the price. I was pleasantly surprised how good it looks. Color and texture are great. However, the pungent, chemical-like smell the instructions mention has yet to dissipate. If my doors are closed my eyes water. It’s been almost 2 weeks and it’s still so strong.

Nice for the price!

Nicer than I expected. It came in a roll and flattened out very nice. I like the color its vibrant. I wanted a rug that had a little dimension. I haven’t tried to clean anything yet, but very pleased with how it looks. It’s very soft to walk on. It’s in a busy traffic area by the front door and so far so good.

Best buy I've made for a rug!

Ok, I got this in Nov 2023 and I can say that, after 2byears, that $235 i spent on this 8'6" x 11'6", Off-white jute rug, its held up remarkably well. We actively use this rug in the bedrooms (I have a smaller one for another room) and it doesnt flatten or skew or pull. It holds up to regular vacuuming and furniture being moved also. I will say, though, that if you dont have a pad under it, it will slide everywhere. Also, because its hand made jute, its NOT exactly the size listed. With the smaller one I'd gotten (8x10), it came about an inch smaller and an inch longer. With this larger one, it came nearly 2 inches longer all around. So, just FYI, something to remember when you buy a pad. Some sizing will be involved. Otherwise, though, its held up beautifully and is far prettier in person. Honestly, I thought it'd get dirty from walking on it easily or be more sand colored, but I was happily surprised that it was actually more cream with sand mixed in and bright against the dark hardwoods. It goes perfectly with both the grey and blue, dark wood beach vibe room and the boho rich mid browns, acacia, mango wood and earthy tones in the other room. That $235 price on this larger one, I'm so freaking happy I took the leap and spent it. The color and durability doesnt disappoint.

Horrible quality otherwise pretty

Wow. The quality and craftsmanship of this rug is bad. It’s coming undone in several area, lots of big pieces of sticks woven in. The dirt on my floor under it is insane. I just put it down the other day, we don’t wear shoes in my house and I moved it yesterday to vacuum under and instead I had to mop. Was this thing made in the dirt? It’s insane. The only good thing about this rug is the color. It really warms up the room, everything else is tragic. Zero stars!
