No more slip and slide

We have a pretty large area rug (an 8x10, coincidentally!) in our living room, and it sits right on our hardwood floors. For months, it's been slowly but surely migrating across the room, especially with the dog tearing through the house and the kids just being kids. It was practically a trip hazard by the end of the day, and honestly, it was getting on my nerves having to constantly re-center it. I finally decided enough was enough and grabbed this non-slip rug pad gripper. Honestly, it was super easy to get set up. Just unrolled it, laid it out under the rug, and trimmed a tiny bit off the edge to make sure it wasn't showing. Took maybe 5 minutes total from start to finish. The difference was immediate. That rug is planted now. No more sliding, no more bunched-up corners, and no more having to straighten it every other hour. It's truly amazing how much peace of mind something so simple can bring. A nice bonus is its thickness which also adds a little bit of cushioning underfoot, which is actually really pleasant. And most importantly for us, it’s amazing quality and it feels very gentle on our hardwood floors no worries about scratches or residue. That's a huge plus. Keeps rugs anchored down :)

I picked this gripper pad up for an easy-jute rug I got, not realizing that the jute rug would have its own lightly plasticized backing. Let me preface the following by saying we have a 120-pound Italian mastiff named Max, who often Barney Rubbles in his excitement to turn corners and get places.The non-slip backing on the jute did an adequate job of keeping the rug from moving, but it still sometimes shifted. Once I doubled them up this gripper pad did a far superior one, anchoring it in place and keeping it from rucking up or skewing on the floor.On caveat is that I have only used this on our bamboo floor, which is basically engineered with epoxy and fairly impervious to everything, so I don't know if this gripper will leave residue on hardwood finishes over time, but it's always a good idea to check your rug and pad every time you vacuum, just in case.The manufacturing quality of the pad seems great - uniform, robust rubber grid that's not too bulky - somewhat reminiscent of shelf liner, but thicker. It feels imperceptible under foot and gives rugs a slight cushioning. The price is right.

Excellent grip, competitively priced - easy to cut into smaller sections

There are different types and thicknesses of non-slip rug mats to go under rugs and carpets. There is the thick, padded type; the type that looks like mini-bubble wrap made out of rubber; and this kind, the tiny checkerboard type that is thin, light, and doesn't raise the rug off the floor very much. This mat is the last of the three.I ordered this 9 x 12 for some area rugs in our doorways. I needed something thin, so the doors could still pass over the rugs easily without getting caught on and bunching up the rugs. My intention was to cut the 9 x 12 down to as many smaller mats as needed. One 9 x 12 can be cut to make six (6) 3 x 5 mats and a couple of runner pads, for example.This particular pad is easy to cut and it doesn't bunch up or shift, like some others I've had. It lays nicely. In the past I've had a couple duds (usually darker brown type with ridges, and some that are merely connected X patterns) but this is the kind that I've come to prefer.This pad has no bad odor and appears to be good quality. At this time I see the price is currently discounted to $41.79, which provides an excellent value.Also, do note that this type of pad also works very well as a drawer liner on which to place containers, so the containers in the drawers - like big plastic silverware organizers - don't shift.

Horrible smell at first but does the job for padding and grip

The first thing I noticed when I opened this was the smell. It was absolutely awful, strong, and smelled toxic. It almost made me toss it right away. It did air out after a couple of days, but definitely not the "odorless" experience they advertise. I bought the 9x12 size and cut it down to fit several rugs around the house. Cutting was easy, even when I stacked four layers at a time. It does add a nice bit of padding and keeps the rugs from sliding, which is the whole point.

This item is as pictured. It was the right size and went down easily. I have used it for a few weeks now and it is holding my rug in place much better. I don’t think the smell was bad at all- it does say to wash it before use. I did not do that as it was going on the floor out of sight. I did not smell it at all after applying beneath carpet- only when opening from package.It is basic and good value - it doesn’t really add padding but it’s not advertised for that.it does not bunch up. I have had my carpet roll up a few times but that is due to my kids rolling around on the rug with a yoga ball and getting their energy out while stuck indoors this winter.I am satisfied with it.
