After looking around and doing research these motorized shades are the best! Will be buying one for every window! Priced reasonably and and absolute great product Thank you!
I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. Install was simple with a temporary stick on template for where to drill the holes. I did the external mount for a fairly shallow window and it significantly darkens the room with minimal light leakage on the sides. If you want to be fancy, you could take some old vertical vinyl blinds from a sliding door and some packaging tape to make a frame around the sides to achieve perfect blackout conditions. I plan to eventually buy the $17 solar panel they sell separately but for now just aim to charge it manually. Of all the alternatives on Amazon, i'm pretty happy with this. It works far more consistently than the Home Depot decorator collection smart blinds which relied on a bluetooth connection and often failed on me.
In rating this unit, I really wanted to give this 5 stars, but there are some flaws that just keep this from being an exceptional product. Overall, this is a very useful and usable blackout roller shade, and price is fair for the features you receive.Likes:- Remote controlled! Our master bath has a frosted window next to the soaker tub. We prefer a roller shade here for looks. Previously we had a manual one here, and it was a daily stretch to reach the pull chain over the tub. Not an issue anymore!- Top/bottom stop settings. There are instructions for how to set the top-stop and bottom-stop settings. (This is the "smart" part of the description.) It involves opening the remote (micro screwdriver included) and going into admin mode. Once set, close it up the remote and you're good-to-go with no worries that kids might inadvertently change the setting. On click and the shade goes all the way up or down and stops at your preset. There is also a pause button so that you can have it partially open.- True blackout material. There are still gaps on the edges, but that's to be expected. If you use this in a bedroom I'd pair this with blackout curtains for maximum effect (neither will give you 99%-100% blackout on their own).- 3 clips to hold the unit. No sagging, and the way the clips are designed, they can fit anywhere along the top rail, making it an easy, no-goof installation.- Long battery life. Supposedly enough to last over 4 months. I recently installed this, so I cannot attest to the battery life, but at even half that, it would still be good. It comes with a long, 16 foot USB-A to USB-C cord, so if installed in a particular way, one could actually recharge this without removing it.Wish it was better:- I'll start with what I alluded to in the last "like" item: You have to install in a particular way to recharge. Normally, one would want to install with the shade rolling against the window to create the most light seal. If you install this way, then the recharging port is facing away, and you have to remove the unit to charge it. Since it "snaps" in, removing and installing is not super difficult, but it does take two people if you have the 46" unit like we do. If you install it so that you can charge without removing, then there are two thing wrong: 1) the shade rolls away from the window, creating more light gaps, 2) the textured fabric side is now facing out, and the plain, smooth part is facing inside.- The install template is off. This came with an install template for the 3 brackets. I like that the it comes with one, and that the template has double-stick tape to help it stay in place, but the markings are not well placed. For inside install, the holes are too far from the window -- again creating that gap. If you also have the shade roll away from the window, then you have double the size gap. The markings are not equidistant. If you center the middle marking, then the end markings are not the same distance from the ends. If you center on the ends, then of course the middle one is not properly centered. This makes no sense. I simply did my own measurements -- close as possible to the window, centered, and 3" from each end. This is a basic thing to get right, so the miss on this is disappointing.- The shade material aligned to the cut. The cut is straight -- but the material lays at slight diagonal. I've owned and used other roller shades never noticed this kind of issue. However, this unit we received from JaeJaes is askew enough to notice. It's not bad enough for me to send it back (especially after going through the work to install it), but it's another basic item that turns into a miss. All of these downsides are not enough for me to return the item -- they are more like small annoyances. However, these are things which prospective buyers should be aware so that you can do your own cost/features/quality decision. For me, the features far outweigh the minor quality issues.Overall, a highly functional remote-controlled blackout shade with great features, but a few small misses on quality that keep it from being 5-star.
This purchase is a 10/10. They were easy to install (though admittedly I wasn’t the one to do it, my husband had no complaints). We love the remote control, and how it blacks out the room. We have them on our bedroom and nursery windows and I would do it again! Way cheaper than getting custom blinds.
This motorized blind is SO NICE! We've had it installed for maybe 3 months now and we're so happy with it! My singular complaint about this blind is that the included installation guide isn't really conducive for effectively charging the motorized blind after it's installed. If you use the included paper guide for installing the motorized blind the bracket actually covers up the charging port. So, it would've been great to either A know that or B have a better guide that avoid this super avoidable issue.Moving beyond that, installation wasn't too bad. At first I loved the included guide because it did enable me to get a perfect fit for my interior mount. The blinds installed perfectly straight and level. It was a little difficult to get the blind to snap into place for the three mounted clips.Once installed the blind blocked light beautifully! They're truly blackout blinds. The blinds also perfectly fit our window size too. The blinds works seamlessly with the included remote. The blinds roll up and down perfectly and with ease. I even appreciate that the blinds have an auto stop feature so when you roll the blinds up they automatically stop once they reach the top. There is no app compatible with these blind unless you have a gateway device by the same brand. (which kind sucks but I can admit is a good marketing strategy)The blinds battery life is impressive. They truly last about 3 months before needing their first charge. For me it was difficult to do the first charge because again the mounting brackets block the charging input. The included cable is VERY long which is very helpful. In order to be able to plug the blinds in I thought I would have to completely dismount the blinds and move one of the brackets over about 1-2 inches to uncover the charging port. Fortunately, once I got the charging port side disconnected from the mount I was able to plug in the blinds. So that being said, for now I just have one mount detached so that I can charge the blinds when needed. Ultimately, I will need to adjust the bracket placement but, until I'm ready to deal with it, simply detaching from the one bracket works well enough for me for now.Other than that I am super happy with these blinds! They work incredibly well and look fantastic. The blinds are in my kitchen behinds my kitchen sink and they're easy to wipe clean when needed. They look good and block light exactly like I needed. They functional beautifully and are super easy and reliable to use. I would absolutely recommend them; I would just also recommend not using the included guide or making sure to move one of the brackets to ensure your charging port is accessible. Other than that these blinds would be absolutely perfectly!
