UNIQUE colors - cheerful palette

This is really unique little figurine in that it doesn’t fit the color pallete usually associated with this style of decor. The colors on the dress are a bit muted, but in a cheerful yellow and blue combination. The rose is a deep red, and the pair are definitely redheads. The working on the bodies is typical of the style, resembling “sculpted” wood (they are made of resin though), the faceless style is true to character. One thing I like about it that is very subtle is that the daughter’s face is tipped up ever so slightly to look into her mother’s face, which became more apparent when the light fell from the right angle.The piece has a typical weight and is somewhat narrow front-to-back instead of being chunky. This is the one weakness – while the base is smooth and the piece didn’t threaten to tip over, the base and depth are small relative to the height and width of the piece, and it COULD be more unstable than other pieces if bumped.My piece had some minor imperfections (shown in the photos) but nothing serious and not worth removing a star. Mostly it’s slightly “off” in edging the hair color. These pieces are very rarely “perfect” from any manufacturer, and I think that’s part of their charm and lends to the handmade look. Also ensure the size is sufficient for you – this is a fairly small piece, but it tucks nicely into a little niche where it can be viewed close-up.The box is giftable. This could serve to represent a mother and daughter, or two sisters who are a bit spaced in age.Bottom line, if this suits your color palette, I’d suggest grabbing it. These colors are not at all common, so you may not get a chance at a similar one. The current price of $20 is not super competitive, but there’s a coupon listing right now for $15.99 which is a fair price for a piece like this.

Unique, handcrafted sculpture.

As a family of redheads, we fell in love with this mother daughter sculpture. As each one is handcrafted, they are very unique, each with it's own characteristics and I love that about it. It's a perfect size for placement almost anywhere and it's such a beautiful color combination that it would go with most anything. The material is a durable resin so good lasting quality, but it looks almost like carved wood from standing distance. The colors are muted in strength which I love love love. (Other than the little rose which is a brighter red.) Here's the thing -- I wanted a purple flower as our two redheads in the family love irises. So I dabbed just a drop of light purple paint and easily converted that little flower. :) Just a great little piece.

Decent Knick Knack

My cousin is getting married and her fiancée has a little boy so I feel like this will be a sweet little gift to express their love as a new family.My first impression when I opened the box was ORANGE. The cute little family has orange hair; the mom has matching orange shoes. The moon is orange on the outside fading to peach on the inside. The skin of the family is peach like the interior of the moon. The shirts of the dad and boy are only slightly lighter than their skin. The mom's dress is slightly green but looks very close to the boys' shirts. The boys' pants are a light blue and their shoes are brown. I feel like the paint was done very sloppy and barely covered the area it was supposed to. I wish there was more contrast for the different areas. This is the reason I only gave the figurine three stars.Coloring aside I do like the weight of the piece. It doesn't feel wobbly or like it will get knocked over easily. It feels solid and not fragile. The description says ornament, but I think they mean knick-knack since it is too heavy to hang and there isn't a hook or a way to hang it anywhere. This would look great on a shelf or near a lamp though.The detail in the "carving" is very good. When I look at it, I truly feel like it was hand carved. The detail in the hands was a pleasant surprise; you can see a separation between the thumb and hand, so it completes the feeling of the family holding hands.
