Soft texture and rich color. Good for the price. Not total blackout but not sheer.

I purchased the Golden Brown. The color is a dark camel that matches the light tones in walnut wood stain and contrasts nicely with royal, navy or dark teal blues. The velvet is rich looking but does have marks when you touch it, so be aware of how velvet is if that bothers you. Like all curtains, you will need to steam them to get the best look. I first purchased the ones without grommets, but then decided they look shabby because the tops flop over rather than standing straight. The grommeted version looks much nicer imo unless you want to buy ring hooks and hang them that way instead.

Heavy, soft fabric that steams smooth and drapes beautifully

I should preface this review with an admission that I did not purchase these drapes for the usual purpose, which is to block sunlight. I didn't buy these for a window at all, but to block the light from a sink vanity.My husband and I bought a house that was built in the 80s, and it seems to me that 80s contractors believed "open concept" was a great idea in the main bedroom and en suite. For some reason, the vanity and sink for the en suite bathroom is in the middle of the closet and the room with the toilet and shower/tub. My husband gets up at 5:45 AM because he's a masochist, and I prefer to wake up naturally with the sun. But when he gets up to get ready, he turns on the vanity light which lights up the room and wakes me up. I'm not particularly please to be awake before the sun, it's not natural.As a short term solution, I took some light diffusing voiles and hung them from a tension rod across the opening. Aside from disguising the sight of the vanity itself, they didn't help with the light. So I bought these drapes at 96" in the lovely green. It says olive, I say these are too dark for olive, but as I have varying shades of green in the main bedroom, it isn't an issue.plus I love the color.The were initially a little shorter than my existing voiles, but that was due to being severely wrinkled from packaging. After I took my hand held travel steamer to them, the feel straight. They hang at the correct length post steam, and when my husband pulls them together in the morning, they do effectively block the light from the vanity.However, I did notice that when I was on the other side and the sun was filtering through the window in the bedroom that the sunlight DID show through the fabric from the other way. I don't know if these would be 100% effective at blocking sunlight to a blackout effect. I'm rating them 5 stars because: they are pretty, the fabric is soft, they were much heavier than I anticipated for the price, the color is lovely, and they have performed the office for which they were intended beautifully.

A God send for sensory overload - worth every penny

As someone who is autistic and highly sensitive to sound and light, I can’t overstate how much these navy blue velvet, blackout curtains have improved the comfort of my space. I live in Texas, where the summer can be intense, and blackout curtains, aren’t a luxury – they’re a necessity. These help block out most of the sun, except for some light that shines through the top and side. Great quality

I purchased 16 pairs of these. The colors (camel and royal blue) were beautiful and really dressed up the house. They fit beautifully and were easy to hang. I purchased them for drafty windows and we noticed a difference immediately. They are doing great job blocking the cold air . The cost was decent when you look at the quality .
