Lovely bookends! These are definitely real stone. Very smooth, high quality finish, and nice weight to them. They hold up even the heavy books without sliding on the shelf. Bigger than a standard paperback, they are esthetically better suited for use with larger books. The style is simple, yet elegant.
Absolutely lovely, real marble! It is sparkly white with light gray veining, similar to the ever popular Carrera marble. The edges are cut to a pristine edge, but not in a way that is sharp enough to cut. These have the heavy weight that you would expect from a dense stone; that combined with the cool smoothness of the stone makes these feel very high end.The bottom sticky pads serve to both protect the furniture piece underneath them from being scratched, as well as to minimize slippage of the bookend itself due to the weight of the books pushing against the sheer smoothness of the marble, which minimizes the friction that would otherwise offer natural slip resistance.These are packaged extremely well with perfectly form fitted shock absorbing plastic foam. While this is great for preventing damage in transit for an otherwise fragile/brittle product, in my experience the marble was so tightly packaged that one of the non-slip pads on the bottom transferred off of the marble onto the foam surrounding it; since the pad was rolled up and mangled in this process, it would no longer flatten out and adhere properly to the marble bookends. So far, I have been unable to find a nonstick pad of a comparable thickness since these are thinner than usual, so one of my bookends sits slightly crooked currently.This set is absolutely lovely and is certainly high-quality; even so, the pricing seems fairly steep compared to similar marble book ends on the market. Offering a couple extra stick-on non-slip pads would be a helpful and inexpensive way to increase the value, product ratings, and long-term usability of these bookends.
These are very heavy bookends. They're packaged very well and fully wrapped in styrofoam. So they are in perfect condition when I opened them.They're so heavy it's easy to split them up and use one on one shelf and one on another. They don't have any issues holding up a ton of books or notebooks. They just look so good on the shelf too. The slant is so subtle and makes them look nice and elegant while they're holding up all those books. I love them.
Needed some new bookends and decided to go with these real marbles ones. Couple things I wanted to get from these, which they have delivered. First, they are simple and elegant. I didn't need statue bookends of Lady Liberty or anything gaudy like that; just simple and clean. The white marble look is easy to match with a lot of decors, from white finishes to wood and even to dark colors. It's timeless and elegant.Second thing I wanted (and got) was heft. I usually get the kind of bookends with the metal tab that has to wedge underneath books to hold them up. Wanted something this time that could hold books upright with sheer weight. These delivered.The price might be a tad high, but is probably reasonable for cut marble of this size. If you like the appearance in photos for your space, you'll probably like the real thing when it arrives!
The measurements were 6" tall x 4" wide x 3" deep. (see pictures) The seller's measurements are not as advertised, something to be aware of if you need a specific size of bookends. The seller said the measurements were 10"D x 4.75"W x 4.75"H which is far larger than what I received.Other than the incorrect size, I was impressed by their weight. The weight came in at about 9 lbs for the pair. They’re solid enough to keep even heavy books in place and the clean lines give them a sleek, modern feel.As expected with natural stone, the color between the two isn’t identical: one has a subtle rose undertone, while the other leans more toward gray. I actually appreciate the slight variation, because it adds to their authenticity and unique qualities of natural stone.At $99.99 for the set, they’re priced quite a bit higher than similar options on Amazon. There were a few tiny scratches, but nothing that detracts from the overall look or quality. Having said all of that, these are beautiful bookends. If I ordered them again, I would wait for a lower price.
These are beautiful. I use them to store my record collection (the bookends I had for them prior weren't heavy enough to keep them up).Pros:- They're really high quality- Made of real marble. Base color is sort of a light grey / white, and the marbling detail is a medium grey- Store them on a white console - they look subtle but elegant- They're heavy, so have no issue storing my records (which i've struggled to find bookends that would work with them- They're nice enough to be a statement piece- Good giftCons:- None
These bookends are perfectly solid chunks of marble, sharp-edged and solid. They weigh about three and a half pounds (1.6 kg) each, so they’re sturdy enough to support a long row of heavy books. Do be careful—if you drop one of these, it will either deeply mar the receiving surface or send you to the hospital. And the bottom surface must be padded somehow to prevent scratching the surface beneath.Supposedly, these bookends come with pads to prevent that scratching, but the pads are cheap, poorly applied, and may well arrive damaged, as mine did. Still, the reviewer who angrily wrote that he put these bookends “in the trash” was overreacting. I peeled off the bad pads and replaced them with others that I had left over from another product. (You should also be able to find them at your hardware store for about a dollar.) The adhesive from the original pads is hard to remove, but it doesn’t matter much, since it will be hidden on the bottom side of the bookend. The bottom line: these are nice bookends with a significant flaw, but one that you can easily repair.
