For the Balboa of book-readers!
Book stair-statueI knew this was right up my alley as soon as I saw it.Had to have it!So glad I got it. It's such a fun, interesting twist on a home decor statue.This would make an excellent gift for just about anyone, especially for voracious readers/book-lovers. Perfect for the hard-to-shop-for person/person who has everything, or for white-elephant/office gifting, since it's neither particularly feminine nor masculine, and would appeal to someone of either sex.It's a great conversation piece, and everyone who sees it in my house, loves it.The quality of this piece is pretty good.While the three little dudes/dudettes at various places of the "book steps/mountain" are plastic painted gold, the statue as a whole is nice and sturdy. Has some weight to it, which is important with taller/linear sculptures like this one, since they are more likely to get get accidentally bumped or knocked.It toppled over as I was getting it out of the protective styrofoam shell, purely due to my monumental clumsiness and knack for knocking things over....and as it tumbled to the floor, seemingly in slow-motion...I thought for sure my new favorite decor piece would be irrevocably broken before even having a chance to fully appreciate it.As I bent over to pick it up (practically in tears), I discovered it was still in perfect, pristine condition. Not so much as a crack!So as far as durability goes....this one's got it in spades.The base/bottom is lined with a velour-like/flocked/grippy fabric, which not only protects the surface of wherever you choose to display it...it also keeps it in place, and keeps it from sliding around, no matter how slippery the surface it's placed on.The height is great. It's not a small, chintzy statue, but isn't very large and obtrusive. A small footprint positional, giving it the ability to be displayed almost anywhere, while being tall enough to be easily seen from across the room. Great lateral spacing.Looks great anywhere; on a coffee table, end table, nightstand, wall shelf, bookshelf, kitchen or diningroom table, hallway table or flower stand, or, if you're a bit brazen...in the bathroom atop your...reading material.It fits in well amongst pretty much any decor style in your home/room.Really great for dorm room-decor!I'd also say that this would make the coolest "trophy", perfect to give out to the student that reads the most books during the school year/finishes every book on a summer reading list, or whomever writes the best book report, etc.Just a fun idea.So many different decorative ideas and uses, nice quality, very aesthetically pleasing, a great gift, good quality, great size.Excellent value for the price!In fact, I'm buying another one to go with this one, as I'll ultimately be using it as a set of decorative book-ends.I just adore this book mountain statue, and I definitely recommend!!

What a PERFECT addition to my library shelves!
100/100Absolutely perfect! I have it on a shelf below a set of 3 “monkey people” prints and it perfectly illustrates modern man.The statue is nice and solid, heavy enough but not too heavy. The material is all resin, but it really looks good. The mammalian figures have a nice metallic sheen and the bas itself is a dull dark grey/black.It clearly shows the development of a human in 5 “easy steps” . . . 20% growth per step . . . How many people level off at 80% or below??? Hummm . . . . LOLI recommend this to everyone who want to graphically portray their familial lineage.Ultimately, is it worth the price? YES
