Neutral and stylish rug smelled terrible

I recently purchased this Loloi Kamala KAM-02 Ivory/Silver rug for my kids room. The neutral ivory and silver tones paired really well with both light and dark furniture, which gave the space a modern yet cozy feel. As soon as I opened the rug though, there was a very strong odor that smelled like pesticide. The rug was so pretty and I really wanted it to work for us so we let it sit unrolled in the room for 3 days hoping the smell would fade. Unfortunately the smell did not subside and we ended up having to return it.

I would not buy again

Purchased for our son’s nursery. The colors are nice and true to the picture, and it’s soft, but the quality is poor. It’s just not heavy enough to stay in place and wrinkled constantly. We eventually removed it because the shifting around drove us crazy. We had it on carpet so it might do better on a hard floor anchored by furniture. I would not buy again.
