This was purchased to place over tile floor for babies just crawling and 3 year old. First, so soft. No irritation on children's skin. Secondly, nice thickness, colors of the town are good. Enough variety for the 3 year old to lay out his massive bag of cars. The babies love because lots of rooms and can sit with brother to play with him, yet not interfere with his game play. Vacuuming, works well, just do not use rotating , just suction. The rug does not slip which is great for the tile floor. It was a little more expensive than I thought it was going to be for a "car play mat" but definitely would buy again. Highly recommend

Soft but more blanket like.

It is so soft like a baby blanket. It has a non skid backing on it, like the bottom of slippers? It works, and it stays in place while my son plays on it... But I don't know that I can call it a rug. A rug, to me at least, can be vacuumed. This would get eaten by the vacuum instantly.All in all it is fine for what I bought it for and my son loves it. He can play with his cars on the roads and he likes to lay on it to play with his other toys. It's super cute and the graphics on it look good. Many of the other play rugs I was looking at had really obnoxious colors that I'm just not a fan of but the color scheme of this one if really nice.I have not washed it yet but I know it will have to be washed because it can't handle the vacuum.
