Didn't Smell At First . . . Then . . .
I have to admit, upon opening this California Coast candle set when it was delivered, I was disappointed. Out of the box, it didn't seem to have more than the absolute mildest of scent. Yes, the jars are elegant, but I didn't smell anything that was worthy of the price. Then, something happened. I left the candles outside of the box for about 12 hours. As i was sitting here earlier, I kept thinking and looking around saying "what smells so good? It was this candle set! It seems that exposing it to my home and the warmer air for a period of time allowed the candle to breathe and suddenly, they smelled DIVINE!The scent is extremely unique - I have never smelled another candle like it. The description says "the creamy sweetness of coconut and delicate florals, unfolds into a juicy heart of citrus-fresh guava, and settles on a crisp, clean base of ocean driftwood and warm musk", but honestly, this is so much more than even that description. It definitely has a gourmand smell that is layered with a blend of unknown florals. I do pick up the Guava, as I love guava. The musk is also noticeable, but there is something else that is giving this scent such dimension and complexity. I almost want to say there is a hint of cinnamon that is pulling the scent together. The best way that I could describe this scent is a fresh gourmand oceanic floral. Makes no sense, but oh, does it work! The jars are very elegant. I love the pale frosted seafoam green glass with the elegant wax golden seal. The will go well into any environment.I am finishing this review and going to order more of these. Definitely a good bargain considering how good they smell. I actually don't want to even light them because I am enjoying the unlit smell that much.
