You like mosquitoes? Well don't get these. I was burning a different brand and got assaulted, badly, maybe caused PTSD, maybe triggered childhood memories of being poked invasively, I'm not saying for sure but maybe. Well..... I lit these up and the little buggers ran away like I had smeared garlic on Dracula's nips! These make mosquitos disappear faster than my wife when I drink whiskey!
Wow is all I can say. I bought these with not very high hopes to be honest. I've used the green name brand ones which worked well to deter the skeeters. Tonight, I let my dog out and went out to fill up my stray cats food bowl and the entire area around my front door was CAAAAKKKKEEEDDD with mosquitoes. I've never saw anything like it. I don't want mosquitoes bothering my homeless babies so I went in and returned with 2 coils and lit them. While I was filling up the food bowl, I kept seeing mosquitoes falling on to the porch but didn't think anything of it. ANYWAY 2-3 hours later I came back outside to fill the bowls up for another stray and the amount of dead skeeters was mind blowing. I looked up at the siding and there's only a handful of bugs at the way top near the roof. My house is pretty tall so I'd imagine the smoke wasn't reaching those bugs. I am shocked to say the least. I didn't have high hopes of these deterring mosquitoes and certainly didn't think 4 or 5 simple ingredients would do this!! Impressed! BUY THEM! Great smell and does help keep away some bugs. It will not keep all bugs away just FYI. I will typically light at least three to generate enough smoke to keep the bugs away.
When mosquitoes are swarming this is what you need. I do like citronella candles too, but these coils are much stronger and more reliable. I had some trouble at first figuring out how to use them--they would fall over and go out. But once I realized all I had to do was prop them on a ceramic plate, out of the wind, it went much better. I highly recommend getting out the big stuff if you are troubled by mosquitoes.
Smells odd, wont stay lit. The green ones work much better
This are incredibly difficult to light and put off a very small amount of smoke. The burn time is fine, but the scent and smoke aren't enough to do much. They are also stuck inside one another and break so easily when you try to prep them to burn. Once broken, it's difficult to burn them without you lighting each piece individually. I wish Murphy's brand made this style because the idea is great but this product is not.
