Well-Constructed and Attractive, but More Sheer Than Expected

This is a review for curtains. These curtains are well made, nicely finished, and attractive in person, but they behave differently than I expected based on the way their light-filtering and privacy qualities are presented in the listing.Starting with the positives: the fabric itself feels substantial and well constructed. The faux linen texture is soft, drapes nicely, and has a natural look that works well in a variety of spaces. The stitching is clean and even, the hems are tidy, and the panels arrived true to the listed measurements. I appreciate having both rod pocket and back tab hanging options, which made installation quick and flexible. Once hung, the curtains fall smoothly and look polished rather than flimsy or wrinkled.In terms of light, these panels absolutely soften sunlight. They diffuse brightness nicely and create a warm, muted glow during the day without completely darkening the room. If your goal is to reduce glare, tone down harsh light, or add visual softness to a space, they do that very well. The color and weave also photograph attractively and match the listing images in tone and finish.Where expectations should be adjusted is privacy. While these are described as “light filtering” and suggest a level of privacy suitable for close neighborhoods, in real-world daylight conditions they remain quite transparent. Interior shapes, furnishings, and movement are still clearly visible from outside when the sun is up. The effect is closer to a dark sheer curtain than what many people expect from a standalone privacy panel. They work best when layered with a blackout or heavier curtain, as the listing also suggests, rather than used on their own where privacy is a priority.That said, this does not feel like a quality issue; it seems like more a matter of classification. The curtains are attractive, breathable, and thoughtfully made, but buyers should understand that they prioritize light diffusion and aesthetics over privacy coverage. For decorative use, layering, or rooms where visibility is not a concern, they perform nicely. For spaces where privacy is essential during the day, an additional layer would be needed.Overall, these are good curtains with solid construction and a pleasing look, but they require realistic expectations about transparency. I’m rating them four stars for quality and appearance, with one star deducted for the mismatch between implied and actual privacy performance.

Light Filtering as Stated, Look Nice

I think the description of this item and the pictures shown are very accurate. Everything stated seems true as far as I can tell.These drapes are light filtering, NOT BLACK-OUT. A looser weave, but I agree that from outside I would think you would not be able to see inside the room. But I haven't tested that part yet.The texture is one that you probably do not want to put these up with a hangnail... mine snagged in the material but no damage done at least. Could look rustic or like the faux linen, sort of interchangeable as they said. Different rooms and different styles are available for this to look good in.I had to comprehend the picture and instructions about the fact that there are 2 ways to hang this. Because even though I had the item in front of me, I didn't notice there was an overlap/tube flap of material, as well as the loops of material to hang this. Meaning you could use the loops, front or back. Or you could slide the tube over a curtain rod and not use the loops. Nice idea to have both available. I will include pictures that show this as well as I can. The loops/tube section is about 3 inches.The bottom is hemmed about 2 inches. A picture of that will be in here as well.The sides are hemmed at less than an inch. There are some loose strings I'm finding randomly along the edges (nothing loose on the actual fabric). Nothing major. Going to trim before putting these up for good.The sewing overall is done well. Straight lines, no sloppiness in the hems.The windows these will go on are about 41 inches wide and therefor they can be 1 per window and not have to be straight across tightly. Hope that makes sense.These look nice and will make the room come together. Glad to have them.

Perfect Blackout Linen Look

I was honestly a little skeptical when I ordered these Joydeco black linen-look curtains because I’ve been burned before with “blackout” curtains that barely dim the room. But wow, these actually deliver.We put them up in our bedroom (south-facing window that gets blasted with morning sun), and they make the room noticeably darker – not pitch-black like true 100% blackout, but easily 90-95% light blocking, which is more than enough for sleeping in past 7am on weekends. The light that does sneak through is very soft and diffused, no harsh stripes or bright spots.The texture is gorgeous – it really does look and feel like a high-end linen/ slub fabric. It has that beautiful subtle nubby texture that catches the light in a very natural, expensive-looking way. The black color is deep and rich (not flat or cheap-looking), and it goes perfectly with our modern-farmhouse vibe.Hanging was super easy too. We used both the rod pocket and the back tabs – the back tabs give the nicest soft pleats and make them hang really elegantly. They’re not super heavy (which I like), but they still drape beautifully without being floppy.After use- No fading (still jet black)- No weird chemical smell after airing out- They’ve survived one wash on gentle cycle (cold, tumble low) with almost zero shrinkage- Wrinkles steam out easily .
