This Ain't No Fish
This ocean-themed metal wall art aligns perfectly with its "Minimalist Whale" description in the listing header. The depicted whales most closely resemble mother and child Humpbacks or Northern Right Whales, both of which are known for seasonal migrations to and from my favorite places in New England and the Canadian Maritimes. This piece of art pays homage to the endangered species and it's slow, but forward recovery. Simply viewing it brings a sense of wonder and profound awe of the incredible beings that live in our oceans.Maybe it had something to do with the whale-sized thinking, but I assumed this wall art would be larger and had it in mind to occupy a very large expanse of wall above a corner tub. Well, it's quite a bit smaller than imagined, measuring 16" x 7" edge to edge. It's not going to work where I intended, but the smaller size makes it work perfectly for several other, smaller wall spaces. The fact that it's metal, perhaps 1/16th of an inch thick, black paint with a subtle sheen, and sleek in appearance truly highlights its minimalist leanings. Where ever ultimately mounted, its presence will suggest, rather than shout, a subtle reminder of the mystery, behavior, and seasonal migrations of these beautiful underwater behemoths.
