Cozy and Easy-to-Clean Rug for Homes with Elderly Pets

We have been swapping out our hand-knotted rugs for washable rugs due to our elderly pets. Since we live in a rural area, we were driving almost two hours to a rug shop and spending over $100 each time we had a rug cleaned. Once we discovered washable rugs, it made more sense to spend what we would on a cleaning for a new rug that we can wash at home as long as our beloved companions are with us. But washable rug options are extremely limited for us locally. The design of this rug reminded us of a well-loved antique that has been passed down through generations; we felt it would be a perfect fit for our older home.This rug arrived on the same day as another rug from a different vendor. And, wow, what a difference in rug quality. My husband commented on the weight of this rug compared to the other rug of identical size; this rug is heavier due to its superior construction. One of my peeves with washable rugs is their thin profile compared to a hand-knotted rug. I understand that’s it’s necessary to be able to launder them in a home washing machine but I do miss the bit of cushion that traditional rugs provide underfoot. The HUGEAR rug is thicker than expected; it barely had creases when unfolded and they disappeared within a couple of days. Also, it does not move at all; the non-slip backing keeps it securely in place on hardwood. And, as I’d hoped, it brightened up our room considerably with its light color. If I have any gripe, it’s that the colors in it are very limited – only ivory and browns. I’d prefer a little more color like we had in our wool rugs but its limited palette makes it compatible with most decorating schemes.When washing the rug, we use our large-capacity, HE top-load washer which has no agitator. I first spray any pet spots with enzymatic odor reducer and allow it to dry. The rug washes up best on the “waterproof” cycle using cold water and a gentle detergent. I then hang it to dry. It washes up well with no loss of pile or design and no shedding. A light sweep of the hand over any creases or lines in the pile is all it needs to look great. It’s such a pleasant departure from packing up a soiled, stinky, and heavy rug to drive to the cleaners.This rug’s price is reduced considerably from what it was when I ordered it; it’s almost half of the original price and an excellent value. I highly recommend this cozy washable rug to anyone trying to maintain a clean, fresh home with elderly pets and their inevitable accidents.

Nice, long rug!

We have tile in our kitchen, which is also our main entrance into our house. We prefer to enter through our back deck as it's just easier. The problem I noticed is that during the winter, the floor gets really, really dirty with rain, snow or other things you pick up on your shoes. We prefer to wear shoes inside, since we have all hardwood floors, we have placed rugs in high-traffic area's to help capture some of the dirt so we decided to use this for our back entrance. I am so happy that it stays put and that I don't have to worry about tripping. The design is nice, very subtle and the pile is perfect for the kitchen. The rug itself if very nice, soft as well. Very easy to sweep and vacum to keep clean. It's a little long to be tossed in the wash, but hopefully it will wash and clean easily. It looks like it will since I am spot cleaning it when necessary. Overall, a very nice rugh with a nice pile, easy to clean and looks great!
