Fine looking but don’t trust brackets

For fake wood, these look pretty nice. I wanted live edge, but that price is prohibitive so I settled. To avoid the probably inevitable consequences of the weak mounts, I also purchased and installed steel brackets. This also fits my rustic decor better than the modern look of floating shelves.So the cons are that they really don’t look like real wood and the mounting hardware is weak which made me spend money on needed extra support.

Flimsy - Doesn't work as a shelf

I should have known better upon unboxing in November and retuned the 72" shelf.The brackets only go in about half way and are made of thin steel. The shelf itself is hollow and made of 1/8” masonite, essentially a step up from cardboard.I finally got around to installing it in January and let me tell you, this has been the biggest waste of money in the history of waste, and money. Not only did the provided plastic anchors shatter in the wall requiring me to go to the local big box hardware store and spend my hard earned money on *real* anchors, but it also sags to the point I am worried about putting anything of value on it. Now before you go and tell me I didn't use enough screws/anchors, let me tell you - I was able to successfully hit 3 studs and with the rest of the available mounting holes, I ran a sheetrock anchor and screw with the hopes that would make the bracket less flimsy. I was wrong.Now knowing that the installed bracket wasn't going to be enough, I bought some more sturdy floating shelf L-brackets on Amazon thinking these would do the trick. Here's were the flimsy construction of the shelf itself bit me. I am now trying to support what is essentially cardboard with heavy duty brackets, so a slight improvement, and 10s of extra dollars spent on trying to make this thing work.Honest opinion: do not buy. Spend a little more and get something of higher quality.

Overall Pleased - After Pictures followed by Before Pictures

I am pleased with this purchase. We opted for premade floating shelves to save on the cost of custom made shelving. The product information notes that the shelving holds up to 75 lbs. This was a reason for us to purchase. However, once putting them up, we found that they probably should not hold up to 75 lbs as they start to shift forward, even with being attached to a stud. We are keeping items on display pushed to the back of the shelf and choosing to avoid heavy materials. The look it provides makes the space feel more complete and elevated our space.

Nice product; weak hardware

The material and look and finish is fine; however the hardware provided (screws, wall anchors) were insufficient to hold the shelf carrying anything around 17 lbs (I used the shelf to display a Lego set). The screws and dry wall anchors would pop out under weight, and the shelf bracket isn’t long enough to attach either end to wall studs. I had to go to the hardware store to get expanding drywall anchors to better secure the floating shelf (see attached photo). What I ended up doing was aligning the center hold of the shelf bracket to a wall stud then used the expanding dry wall anchors and screws on either end to further stabilize the shelf.

Nice Shelf

I really like this shelf. It is nice looking and well constructed. It came with very clear installation instructions. I was able to use one of the holes near the middle for one stud, and then drilled a hole near the end for another stud. I then used four other holes for wall anchors. I always keep a stock of metal ones that expand behind the wall. They are much sturdier than the plastic ones. It turned out to be a very sturdy shelf. I did not need brackets like some others did.
