    Very well-made music box, if not the most durable. Great gift between mothers and daughters.

    I was pretty impressed with this. It's a little music box that measures about 2.5" x 2", and it's made of wood. The wood isn't especially strong or thick—it's likely a wood like laser-grade birch plywood (hobby ply), so it's not particularly heavy. That said, the laser engraving is beautiful and precise, the cover opens and closes smoothly.In a world filled with electronics beeping and tooting, it's refreshing to experience some good old-fashioned analog music again. The music box is a traditional, hand-cranked mechanical music boxes where you turn a crank that moves a cylinder activates chimes. It's of course easy to use and works perfectly. Although of course, the younger ones around you might be confused as to how it works without batteries.I particularly like this design, because it's a great gift for a daughter to give a mother or a mother to give a daughter. I like the song selection too, because everyone knows the chorus to "You Are My Sunshine". The song was actually written as a country song in 1939. As most country songs were, it was originally about a lovelorn cowboy, but over the years people focused more on the chorus, which can apply to any relationship; parents and children, grandparents and children, husband and wife, etc.This is one of those gifts that couldn't have been made in the days before laser engraving, so it's both old-school and nostalgic, but also very modern. At its current price its a reasonable value, although I see so many different versions of this that you'll probably do well to shop around to find one you like. Like I said, this one is one of the better designs I've seen for mothers and daughters.
