Made to mimic solid brass, and it's not a bad imitation at all!
The description says that this thing is made out of resin, which is a good quality plastic. I really took that to mean that this thing was going to be real lightweight and just not much to it. Well I couldn't have been more wrong actually, though I guess that the actual shell of this thing is a resin, I'm not sure what the resin coating is going around or what it has been filled with but it's pretty heavy. If somebody didn't know any better, and they just happened to pick this thing up and give it a good once over real fast and then put it back down, there's a real good chance that they would be under the impression that they were holding a piece of brass. It's definitely just the right color, and it's really close to being the right weight. It's definitely not just some lightweight plastic piece of junk that's for sure. If you turn it over and look at the bottom there's a strip of velvet. So when you put the piece down, standing up straight, whatever surface you have it's sitting on, it's going to be sitting on velvet. So if you were to set it on a glass table or marble surface or any real nice, fragile surface that you don't want to get cracked or chipped or damaged in any kind of way, this will be a good piece for that because of the velvet bottom. It will work really good for a book and on a shelf, told your books up straight. I could think of a dozen things that this would make really good use for. It's really pretty, but I'm not sure about the hand gesture. It's almost like the rock and roll symbol, but not quite, because the thumb is laid out to the side instead of over with the two center fingers completing the circle. If the hand were to drop that pointer finger down and leave the pinky and the thumb out, then you would have the Hawaiian symbol for hang loose. I don't know I can't get this one figured out, but I do love that they took this plastic / resin and made it look like a nice brass piece, complete with the Velvet bottom so it really does look like a good solid chunk of brass and not some cheap, weighted plastic.In my opinion the asking price for this unit is maybe just a little much, especially before they applied the coupon price. With the current coupon price it's not quite as bad right now, but it's still a little much I feel like for a resin piece that's doing some sort of hand gesture that I'm not even sure what it is. I probably would not recommend this product to my friends and family, I just really tend to try and stick with the more genuine stuff.

I love this piece! My son and I have a little thing between us where we make this symbol with our hand to say I love you, so I was so excited when I saw it. It’s a great size, pretty large, but not too big and looks like a really quality piece. It’s relatively heavy and very strong and sturdy.
