I love my mid century house bird!

Growing up, my grandmother had an Eames House Bird as part of her decor. I always loved that bird, but I was young when she passed, and it was sold. Originals go for really high prices, most of them being solid walnut or other woods, so I always thought having one would be out of reach for me.But then I found this really cute white replica house bird! It's larger in person, solid, but not overly heavy, so I feel safe having it on a wall shelf. Unlike the originals, this bird has rubber "socks" on the end of its metal legs so it doesn't scratch surfaces or slide around too much, which is a great upgrade. I thought its size would make it stand out too much among my other decor, but having up on a shelf combined with its bright white colour against my white ceilings makes it blend in while still be an impactful piece of art. Every time I look up at it, it brings a smile to my face and I remember those days I used to spend with my grandmother.
