Jar candles with interesting messages and line art on the label is just a small part of their product line.The subject of this review is the “Scent of Reading Time: Infused with the crisp aroma of quiet moments and turning pages” 100% soy wax candle.The vendor reported product dimensions are 2.83"W x 3.54"H. I checked the measurements and verified the candle height but the candle width is slightly exaggerated, I measured 2.75”W. The item weight of 7.04 ounces refers to the amount of candle wax. The candle weighs 14.212 ounces with its nonmagnetic metal screw top lid and 14.046 ounces without the lid. The wick is a white cotton flat wick liberally coated in wax for rigidity and ease of lighting. The wick measurements are 1.34mm x 1.96mm. The glass jar housing the candle is made of 3.71 mm thick clear glass.The vendor reports that the “candle can last 40 hours”. I conducted an independent burn test under the real world conditions of my home to see if the candle lived up to the vendor’s estimated burn lifetime. The candle wick kept mushrooming. I would trim the wick and clean it only to have it mushroom again. Finally, I let it stay in a mushroomed state and let it grow to see if the candle would start smoking but fortunately it never did. So the mushrooming appears to be only a minor annoyance. The candle emitted a subtle but pleasant lavender scent. The burn test lasted for 15 hours and 25 minutes, during which time 2.578 ounces of wax was consumed. At this rate, I project that it will take 42 hours and 6 minutes for all the candle wax to be consumed. However, the National Candle Association (NCA) cautions that one shouldn’t burn a candle once there is less than half an inch of wax left so we have to knock about 2 hours burn time off to factor that in. With the NCA adjustment, we are matching the vendor’s expected 40 hour burn life almost exactly.In conclusion, while the wick mushrooming is a minor annoyance, the burn was clean, the scent was pleasant, and the burn lifetime matched the vendor’s projection of 40 hours. This candle is a solid performer and a great gift to curl up near and read a good book!

Crazy about this adorable lavender-scented candle!
Delighted with this candle! It has a delicate, faint lavender scent out of the box (might build stronger when burning.) It's packaged very nicely, could easily be given as a gift. Candle is in a glass jar & has a nice feel, the glass is coated/frosted. Not to mention the adorable "Scent of Reading Time" inscription! Love love love! I'm a huge bookworm & have several bookworm friends, am considering purchasing a few more of these as gifts.
