This fern truly does look real, very full and thick. Wires throughout the fronds and it can tolerate a lot of handling without pieces breaking off. Accents include *new growth* and sticks.Easy to stage this, I just stuck it into an existing pot with dirt in it and this worked out perfectly!With the Autumn and Christmas holidays, it will do its job brightening up the outdoors.With the 30% off coupon, this is a very good buy.
The long length of the rigid stem that was at the base of the fern is an issue for the base that I chosen to put it in to hang from my porch ceiling! I had to poke a hole thru the bottom to secure it in place! I think the weight of the fern and the stake would require a heavy or firm holding amount of dirt to secure this in place. For my purposes, that’s not what I’m looking to have to do! The ferns themselves are very firm, not soft or bendable as a true fern is. Living in the Adirondacks, I’m surrounded by them, they’re right outside my door in abundance! While these are going to be a nice addition to the decor on my screened in porch and will provide entertainment for my two Siberian kitties, they’re not quite as realistic appearing as I had hoped they would be!This isn’t a total winner, it gets a recommend but with reservations😊
I'm not happy with the quality of this product. It looks and feels very cheap - and doesn't look as real as it should. It's hard to get the branches in the right positions, it's hard to fluff up, it's heavy, and it stinks really bad when it comes out of the box - it actually smells like body odor. I had to rub the branches with an Old Spice anti-perspirant/deodorant just to get the smell of BO to go away. This plant would actually go great in a locker room or gym, since it smells the same.By the way, this fake plant looks nothing like the pictures posted by zhongshanshijinglingsenlinmaoyiyouxiangongsi (the seller). It's not nearly as full looking because it has maybe half the branches that zhongshanshijinglingsenlinmaoyiyouxiangongsi's pictures show, and the branches all arrived bent and smashed together. In fact, when I opened the box, I noticed this fake plant had been completely folded in half and wrapped in plastic - making it almost impossible to get the branches to straighten out now - they appear to be permanently bent this way.I have a nice place in my backyard where I wanted to plant this thing, but it looks so fake that I don't think it would look good in my backyard after all, so I decided against planting this. I'm not really sure what to do with this fake plant now. Oh well, I'll figure something out.
nice, solid quality, large fern for the porch. don't have to water or worry about it getting dusty. just wash it off and it keeps looking great!
I'm a reasonable person. I don't expect anything to be perfect, but when I buy something online, I do expect the photo to be at least a decent representation of the item I will receive, as that's all I have to base my decision on. I have a lot of fake plants in a room in my business because the temperature fluctuates too much season to season to keep live plants. I ordered this Boston fern because the photo showed a nice, full, fluffy plant with lush, beautiful leaves. I received something that looked like a giant green spider. It was folded and crushed into a small shipping box, which I understand, but then there was the toxic, headache-inducing plastic smell. It permeated the entire room and lingered for weeks, despite my leaving the plant to air out. And no matter how carefully I tried, I couldn't get the plastic leaves to lie flat or remove the kinks and twists from shipping. I'd bend them into a more aesthetically pleasing shape, and they'd bounce right back into their crushed shape. My photos show what it looks like after two weeks of fluffing and airing out. It looks very spindly and scraggly compared to the photos in the listing. Maybe if you place it outdoors, it would get heated by the sun, rained on, and blown by the wind, and it might eventually look better. Due to the smell, I suggest it for outdoor use.
This fern looks fantastic in a large, three-foot-tall planter on our front deck. Normally, I get real ferns every year, but due to the super hot weather this summer, I didn't want to deal with the watering. The fronds on this fern are huge, and some touch the ground. It was easy to shape the fronds how I wanted, and it truthfully looks like a real plant. This was a good value, in my opinion, compared to what I pay for real ferns that die every year.
My wife writes: Visually, this artificial Boston fern is surprisingly convincing. I’ve got a good eye for fake plants, and this one holds up even at close range. The leaves have a nice variation in size and shape, and once it had a chance to unfold and fluff up (I left it sitting on the porch overnight), it looked full and natural.The problem? It smells like it’s been living in a damp basement since 1994. There’s a strong, musty, almost mildewy odor that hit me the moment I opened the package. If I were planning to keep it outdoors, it wouldn’t bother me much. However, I originally bought this for use inside the house, and now I’m second-guessing that decision. I don’t know if the smell will fade with time or if I’ll have to Febreze it into submission.If you need a realistic-looking fake fern for your porch or patio, this might be worth it. Just be aware that it arrives smelling like it’s seen some things. And maybe keep it outside until it airs out—unless you’re going for that “forgotten attic” scent aesthetic.
