In-depth review
I got these shelves to display a few of my wooden ship models, because I wanted:+ Floating shelves—did *not* want brackets showing below or above the shelves to give the best view of the models. Check.+ Reasonably close match of wood grain and color to furniture in my office. Check.+ Deep—while the hulls of these models are relatively narrow (I’ve got some much bigger ones), the spars on a couple do stick out quite a way. The 12” depth of these shelves works well. Check.+ Needed to be the right width. These are the 36” wide and there was a two-pack for a very reasonable price. Check.Couple of things to note:- The shelves are quite light weight. I’m not asking them to hold anything hefty and I would not recommend doing so. Not sure what a weight limit might be (that does depend on how they are anchored—if directly into a wall stud could be quite reasonable, into drywall like these, much less so)- They are a little wobbly. At least part of that is the drywall mounting, but I think the way the shelf sleeves onto the bracket gives a little play. Again, not an issue for me, but it might be for you if you’re looking for something really solid.- The material is not wood. It is a vinyl laminate. Looks good though and you can’t really tell until you get up close. My desk furniture is a similar laminate so it matches mine. But if you’re a purist who insists on the real thing, this may not be your choice. That’s, um, your choice.SUMMARYAnyway, they fit my requirements, the two-pack was a great deal, they were easy to set up and I am very pleased with them.
