Soft and elegant-looking. Able to customize length

This soft and elegant-looking runner may be a little too nice for a garage, but that is how we are using it. When we decided to have the garage repainted and the floor given a full epoxy treatment, we decided to discard all the dusty old carpet remnants and runners that we had been using to protect our deteriorating cement floors from car tire wear and human foot traffic into the house.The search for a simple runner was complicated. We didn’t want a slippery, non-rubber-backed runner, because we were afraid of people falling when the rug shifted against the very shiny epoxy-coated floor. We also didn’t want a too-heavy, rubber-backed rug that would adhere to the new floor coating in hot weather and transfer patches of rubber to the floor. For that reason, we kept away from heavy-duty, indoor-outdoor rubber-backed runners. I would consider this runner medium-light duty. It is nice enough for use inside a home and is slightly elegant for a garage, with its two-tone quality when viewed from opposite directions. I will reserve final judgment about the runner’s durability until the wet and snowy winter months arrive.I rated the rug four instead of five stars because I would have preferred a 30”-36” width runner in the way we were using it, in our garage. The ability to customize the runner’s length is a real benefit, however, and will make it suitable for a wide variety of applications. We chose the 12’ length. One final point : The runner was shipped tightly rolled, not folded. That meant that the runner had no wrinkles or folds and was perfectly smooth when unrolled.To maintain the runner, we vacuum it weekly.
