I Was Not Expecting To Be Excited About Candlestick Holders

Old-world charm is combined with modern refinement in these tasteful, hand-made, Cast Iron Taper Candle Holders. You get 3 holders in different sizes. Measured from the 2.8-inch diameter base, they are 13.8 inches, 11.8 inches, and 9.8 inches. These will fit ¾-inch candles (incandescent or LED) and have a non-scratch pad on the base.Function:My wife and I love candles, and in addition to myriad tea light holders which always stay out, we have a set of plain silver taper candle holders brought out for special occasions and promptly put away. Since we got these cast iron candle holders 3 weeks ago, we haven’t put them away. They’re really interesting to look at, the hand-hammered surface displaying rustic charm, while the stems are perfectly straight and non-damaging to fine wooden surfaces courtesy of the non-scratch pad on the base. They have a really nice weight to them, but they’re definitely not clunky. These look great on our dark, distressed wooden dining table, but they would be equally at home and bring even more refinement to a white tablecloth with fine serving-ware. We currently have smaller, 4.5-inch white taper candles in them which look great for everyday, but longer, colored candles look even more striking and would be fantastic for holidays or special occasions.You may have to melt some wax at the base of some candles to get them to sit firmly and straight in the holder as they are not very snug for ¾-inch candles, but this is usual for most candle holders. Both the 4.5-inch and 10-inch candles I tried needed melted wax to stabilize them within the holders, but because of their weight the holders themselves remained completely stable with any length of candle. Under low light, the distressed but polished iron has beautiful reflectivity, the hand-beaten texture flickering under candlelight. They’re easy to clean, the cast iron surface polished to a sheen. After 3 weeks there is no change to the patina or finish, and dripped wax is very easy to remove. I think you would have to try really hard to damage these in any way. If Professor Plum did it in the library with the candlestick, he definitely used one of these.Verdict:These are really nice candle holders and would make a great gift if you could part with them. Rustic refinement is an overly-used descriptor, but it’s actually appropriate here. They are both cottagecore and elegant, which is very difficult to pull off. I’m going to use these year-round and simply dress them up with different candles for different occasions. I can’t believe I’m excited about candle holders.Pros:• Rustic and elegant.• Hand-beaten surface but perfectly straight stems.• Hefty but not clunky.Cons:• May have to melt some candle wax in the base to get some candles to fit snugly and straight.

If you have ever thought, “I wish my house had candlesticks that could double as weapons if intruders made it past my security traps,” then these are the candlesticks for you. These things are heavy. Each one is substantial enough that it could probably moonlight as a bookend or perhaps a trailer load tie-down (sarcasm… mostly).Jokes aside, the durability is very real. These cast iron holders feel incredibly solid and built to last. I would not be surprised if they are still perfectly functional in the year 4026, assuming they are kept dry and do not rust. They have a very masculine, grounded presence and an expensive, high-quality feel that works especially well on a mantel or dining table.The black finish looks clean and timeless, and the varying heights add nice visual interest. From a value standpoint, this set feels like a great buy. You are getting extremely durable, well-made candle holders that look and feel far more expensive than they are. If you want something sturdy, long-lasting, and unapologetically solid, these deliver exactly that.
