A good way to congratulate the bride

Kosmickiss sells an extensive line of jar candles with amusing and endearing messages as well as a line of beautiful wooden 3D puzzle clocks. Their candles are made in China.The item I am reviewing is the Kosmickiss “Smells like he hit the jackpot” 100% soy wax 9 ounce jar candle. The candle comes in a nice, solid protective white box with some basic information about the candle printed on it. Inside this box is the beautiful blue decorative box which is one of the nicest looking gift boxes that I’ve ever seen. The only writing on the gift box is the company name, “Kosmickiss”, in attractive gold lettering.The candle’s jar is made of lightly frosted, clear glass which is 4.05mm thick. The jar is capped with a black, nonmagnetic black metal screwtop lid. Kosmickiss lists the candle as being 3.54"W x 2.85"H. I measure the candle as being 2.75W x 3.5625”H. Looks like Kosmickiss transposed the height and width. The candle with the lid on weighs 14.191 ounces and 14.021 without the lid. The candle has a cotton wick with a couple brown threads woven into the wick. The wick is a flat wick measuring 1.38mm x 2.43mm. The wick has a coating of wax to keep the wick rigid and aid in lighting the wick.Kosmickiss states on the candle’s outer box that the candle has a 35 to 45 hour burn lifetime. I conducted a burn test to see how this candle would perform in the real world conditions of my home. While burning, the candle emitted a subtle but pleasant lavender aroma. The candle had a little mushrooming of the wick but no significant smoking, so I don’t see that as a big deal.The burn test lasted for 10 hours and 22 minutes. During this time, 2.158 ounces of wax was consumed. At this rate of consumption, it will take 43 hours and 14 minutes for all of the candle wax to be consumed. However, the National Candle Association (NCA) cautions that one shouldn’t burn a jar candle once less than half an inch of wax is left. Factoring this in the candle should have a burn life of a little over 41 hours which is at the upper range of the vendor’s range.Most candle vendors only provide a single number for their burn life estimate. Kosmickiss provides a range which actually makes a lot more sense and is a practice that more candle vendors should adopt. The reason this makes so much sense is that there are so many environmental variables that can impact the candle’s burn life such as the room temperature, any air movement or lack thereof in the room, how frequently is the candle wick trimmed, humidity, length and frequency of burns, and altitude can all significantly impact candle burn life. Providing a range takes these realities into account. For example, if you look at the post burn photo of this candle, you’ll notice that the wick needs to be trimmed. If you're thinking that the candle could have burned for an hour or two longer if the wick had been trimmed more rigorously, you're probably correct.In conclusion, I highly recommend this candle. It has a good burn life and it has a subtle, pleasant scent that will please rather than overpower.
