Cute? Yes. Heavy? No. What you should known before buying.

Both the listing info and other reviewers say these bookends can handle heavy books. That's true. But only sometimes. Ish. In specific circumstances.These are made of lightweight metal. In no world will they keep a wide row of large books upright. They just aren't heavy enough. But if you want to keep just a few large heavy books on display, that's a job they can do.The trick is that the bottom of the two bookends have to overlap by at least 50%. When they do, the weight of the books themselves keep everything in place.If the bookend bottoms don't overlap, or barely overlap, then your books will topple over.I haven't tried a wide row of small paperbacks yet. If they backed onto a window, or the rear wall of a bookcase, I think that they may stay in place despite the bookends having no overlap. In the same scenario but without vertical support, I think it'd be a no go.FYI.
