Very sturdy, quality shelf

This shelf is beautiful and made with quality materials. I am currently trying to decide where I want to hang this gem. The size is nice, the color is just as shown in the photos on Amazon and I was very pleased with the craftsmanship of both the metal frame and the wooden shelves. This is not cheaply made by any means. The instructions that came with it were simple and easy to follow and getting it put together took me maybe 10 mins total. This will be beautiful to display a multitude of things such as plants, figurines, candles (if real and you want to light, maybe only on the top shelf), a few special books, holiday decor and the list goes on. I will edit this review and add some photos once I decide where I will hang it. I would recommend this to family and friends and I would also order more items from this company in the future.

Lots of uses, easy to put together

This took a couple of minutes to put together, so I was happy about that. It's very solid and looks great. It's not the best picture, because I'm not totally sure yet where I'm going to put it. I was originally thinking I'd hang it on the wall, but I may also place it on top of a cabinet for extra space for decorative items on top of it. I like that I can hang it or set it somewhere. It could also sit on the floor and hold plants or something too. Lots of uses and options for this. I'm excited to decide on where it will live in my home and set items on it. It looks really great in person.

Pretty nice shelves but could be better for the price

These are real wood shelves with a pretty good finish and everything is easy to assemble and seems sturdy enough for even nothing but thick books. That said, both shelf sections I received had a lot of knots and putty work underneath the nice finish. Another issue (and one I see repeatedly with wall-mount shelving manufacturers) is the nonstandard spacing of the mounting holes and the inclusion of useless anchors in an attempt to make the shelving unit seem universally mountable (it’s not and don’t trust the anchors). The centering of the mounting holes on this set of shelves is 19 3/8” which is not even close to any standard wall stud spacing (16, 18, or even 24”) so don’t expect to mount this on any hollow wall (like common 1/2” drywall) unless you know there’s wood backing behind it or, at the very least, you’re using toggle bolts to mount it (and even then, I wouldn’t expect to be able to put a whole lot of weight on this since it’s already about 6 1/2 lbs by itself. That said, if you have wood plank or finish plywood walls of some kind or you mount some wood runners to the studs before mounting it on drywall or plaster, you’ll be fine putting this anywhere you want with a fair amount of weight (the welds on the brackets seem pretty sturdy). All in all, it’s a pretty well made and functional shelving unit…just do your homework before mounting it.

Awful, do not buy!

I'm pretty unhappy with this purchase and would return it if I could. I thought this was going to be a really nice shelf, but it's not well made at all and it's very visible. The wood shelves are nice. They look nice and I'm happy with that part. It's the metal arms on the side that are a mess and really reduce the quality of this product. The metal is scratched and gouged all over the place. The finish on it is a mess and didn't properly adhere in many places. Spots that are shiny while others a matte. The welds are awful, done in a rush, and globs of mess. They clearly were not ground down to flush again or buffed, just coated over all of the messy welds. All of the messy welds are on the inside of the shelf, the most visible areas as the eyes look at what's sitting on the shelf, not looking at the left or right side of the shelf. The metal is such a mess you'd think it's had a 40 year hard life, not brand new out of the box. It's so bad that I'm embarrassed for it to be seen in my home. The light highlights all of the problems on the metal and it's just a real shame because it could have been a nice product. But the metal is also very thin, so many it wouldn't have been durable. I would never recommend this product and I'll have to add Birdrock Home to my list of 'don't buy from this seller/maker'.

Not good

This really isn't good, and for about $45 it's not worth considering.The first issues with it are with the wood. Despite the wood pieces being packaged well, both had damage and poor finishing. The pictures attached to the review show all the problems, stain not being applied properly, nicks, etc. The strangest is on the larger bottom piece. It looks like they made a mistake and it was too small and to correct it, they added a second piece of wood to make it bigger. One inch of the long side is a totally different piece of wood from the majority of the shelf. It wouldn't be too bad if it matched the main wood, but it's very obviously different and just looks odd.The metal sides also have issues. They are not well made, the joins are atrocious, and the shelves don't align properly regardless of how much you try.Having said all that, it's very simple to assemble and you do end up with a functional shelving unit at the end. That's why I'm giving it two stars and not one.Overall, there are too many quality issues with this to recommend. If the price was around $20, it might be worth considering. Any higher than that, you should look elsewhere.

Very robust, if assembled correctly

As long as you put this together the right way, which is easy to mess up, it's really sturdy.When I first put the bottom shelf on the brackets I put the shelf UNDER the metal brackets, because I'm not too bright. In that configuration, it's just the screws holding it in.In the correct configuration (with the shelf on top of the metal brackets), it's resting on the metal and the screws just hold it in place.And if you mount it to the studs in your wall, I can imaging this holding 100+ lbs easily (but I haven't tried that much weight on it yet).
