Machine washable jute-style rug!

I am a big fan of jute rugs and needed something neutral and simple for my kitchen under my table. I was actually very excited to see that this rug is washable- I have never in my life heard of a jute rug that is washable because it's normally a hard or rough texture and would be destroyed if it got soaked. So I was very intrigued to say the least. I ordered the 5 x 7 version.I received the rug and really love it. I actually think the color looks much better in person than in the vendor photos. I also really like the square pattern which gives it some texture and design while still being neutral and understated. I'm not really a fan of the tassels on the sides but that's just a personal preference of mine. I'm certainly not going to take stars off my review for something I was well aware of when I ordered the rug. If they end up bothering me, I may just cut them off, lol.I see some complaints in other reviews about the rug being somewhat thin. It's actually a decent thickness for a washable rug. Any washable rug you order is going to have to be somewhat thin, because you have to be able to fold it up to put it in the washing machine so that just goes with the territory. If you want a thick, heavy rug it's not going to be washable and will likely be more expensive too. If you want the rug to be thicker, but still washable, you can order a rug pad with some thickness to put underneath it. Problem solved!I love that the rug is washable because I have a rescue dog who will inevitably try to use the bathroom on the rug at some point, no matter how careful I am about letting him outside. Once a dog goes to the bathroom on a typical rug, it is nearly impossible to remove with stain removers and scrubbing. It always seems to have a faint smell and a stain or an outline of a stain mixed in with the cleaner or stain remover. Once there is a urine smell in the rug or carpet, the dog tends to try to re-mark the territory over and over and then you're in a downward spiral you can't get rid of until you inevitably toss the rug into the trash. I've ruined way too many traditional rugs this way to ever go back to putting traditional rugs in my home.This washable rug arrived with some creases in it, so I decided to wash it and lay it flat to dry. You can wash it by folding in the edges into a hexagon shape and then repeating until you have a ball. You can easily put it into the washing machine and let it run so that the rug is slightly damp. I lay the rug flat to dry and it gets rid of creases quickly and easily. I'm happy to report that the rug was machine washed and dried with no issues- I'm shocked they actually make a jute-style rug that can be washed in a machine, so that in and of itself deserves 5 stars. The rug is beautiful and exactly as shown. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a natural and neutral jute style rug that can be washed. 5 stars!

A Rug That Handles the Chaos of My House

I bought this 5x7 BESTSWEETIE rug for the main living area where my two daughters, who are 11 and 13, spend most of their time. At 60 years old, I’ve realized that expensive, high-maintenance decor is a waste of money when you’ve got kids and a dog. I’m giving this a five-star rating because it’s a practical, rugged piece of gear that actually looks decent without requiring me to baby it.The main thing I like is the durability of the hand-woven braid. It feels substantial underfoot, not like some flimsy piece of fabric. The checkerboard pattern is subtle in the "naturejute" color, so it doesn't look like a racing flag in the middle of my living room. Since it’s reversible, I can just flip it over if one side starts looking a little worn or if our Maltipoo, Joy, decides to track in some dirt from the backyard. The fact that it's washable is the biggest selling point for me. With a dog and two young girls constantly moving through the house, being able to actually clean a rug instead of just spot-scrubbing it is a huge advantage.One thing I'm not a huge fan of is the fringe on the ends. It looks fine, but I find that it gets tangled or sucked up in the vacuum if I’m not careful. It’s a minor annoyance, but something to keep an eye on. Also, because it's a low pile braided rug, you really need a decent rug pad underneath if you're putting it on hardwood, otherwise, it’ll slide around every time Joy runs across it. For the price, the value is excellent. It’s a tough, good-looking rug that doesn't cost a fortune, which is exactly what I needed for this stage of my life.

Great color and style but a little thin and needs a rug pad

***UPDATE*** My dog's nails pull this quite a bit. She's a wound-up, million miles an hour Blue Heeler, and she's making this rug look "lived-in". The rug is attractive and well-made, offering an okay value. It looks exactly as pictured, features a reversible checkerboard pattern, beautiful frayed edges, and washes and "Stick" vacuums well without shedding. It is good for high-traffic areas like an entrance, as the color hides dirt.It is handwoven with no snags or loose threads. As it arrives folded, so follow the instructions to remove creases. Since it is thin, it offers little cushion, and IMO works best as a layering piece over a rug or with a thicker rug pad underneath to prevent slippage. I would have given 3.5 stars if I could've, as the price is a little high because it requires a rug pad or use as a layering rug.
